Hi All
well, as promised on the September board, here I am again for October.
Have done my "main" shop for the month, split between Aldi and Tesco, and have updated my signature.
I still need a few more "bits" for this week and then, next week, I need to stock up on meat, so spend will be quite high for the first two weeks. After that, I should hopefully be able to drop the spending right down.
Good luck everyone!0 -
well have come in just under budget by £9.56 budgeted £300 for september spent £290.44
Gonna try for £230 this month

Welcome everyone, and good luck to everyone, more new people on board
always a good sign, the shops must hate this thread!
the_cat, up to you, I wouldn't but depends what works for you.
kunekune trust me I know exactly what you mean, wasn't unlike me to have spent over £800 a month on a family of 4 last year, look at my signature, you can reduce itsome things we reduced hugely were waste, ready meals/processed food and 'brand shopping' as I called it, definately helped with getting the spending down.
Well here I am again, a very successful month last month using up stocks, I am going to aim for 10% lower than I usually budget, I need to reduce the budget a bit as we're going to be paying £150 a month more, ish, for the house we move into on the 21st of October. I am sure I can do it!
£270 then for October, this is for 2 adults, 2 hungry boys (6&8) all food and drink for everyone including packed lunches for work/school. Cleaning products and toiletries products for everyone. Also included is animals supplies for 2 large dogs, hedgehog, fish and lizard. I do include any takeaway spends, meals out etc to help me resist buying them. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200

I'm joining in for October, my budget is £300 per month - that's for two adults and one child. I have been vastly overspending our weekly food budget but during September I've cut back and not done badly so I feel I'm ready for the challenge :j2025 - Declutter to Move House

I have a quick question. I have just done a big shop at tesco online to get me started and was lucky enough to have clubcard points codes to use (£41 in deals). I will be using them to pay towards car MOT/service.
Should I deduct the amount from my total spend or not??
 It's entirely up to you I think sweetie.
You work it in any way that works for you - just be consistent so month to month the figures make sense.

:hello: Hiya lovelies!
I'm already in the thick of it with a budget of £400 for the four of us plus cat for the month.
I'm low carbing at the moment though and so I'll have to rejig all my previous pasta heavy menu plans.
Good luck everybody!

Hi all,
I'm in again for October, overspent madly in September, not sure how it happened...think that I just took my eye off the ball....
Am going for €330 again this month, OH and I will be away 1-8th but DD4 and DGS2 will be here, which is why I did some shopping this week...hopefully there will be at least some of the food left when I come back.
Good luck everyone

Hi there
Count me in... i have been having a go at reducing our food costs to 80 euros (£60ish) to feed me n hubby for 4 weeks...and have come in under budget:T and have quite a bit of food left from that..... so i will stick with the same amount for the next 5 weeks (hubby gets paid 4weekly..but if i can squeeze an extra week out of it -why not).... will start on monday as thats when hubby gets paid.
Im opening a bank account so i can stash the rest of the food budget... to get a bit of a nest egg going for us:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

As others have said, its whatever works best for you.
If it were me though, I think I'd take the cash out of the car budget (used to have one when I had a car) and put it in a savings account or somwhere and try to add a little to it each month; nice to have a little stash for emergencies
... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
