Hi
I'm in again with the same £100 pw because it really worked for us last month!:T It was our first month and we had a high budget (albeit down from our usual amounts) and managed to stay well inside!!I am soooo chuffed  ! We also managed a whole month without putting anything on CC (they've been cut up that's why!) and without going overdrawn! We even managed a couple of takeaways - all done through proper budgeting! Yay I am just really pleased with ourselves!
I'm not sure if we'll be so good next month as we're off to see friends up in London so there'll be more expense there but I'm planning that now.
Good luck to everyone else!September Grocery Challenge - £348.70(Budget £400)
October Grocery Challenge - £396.34(Budget £400)
Really must get back on track with these Grocery Challenges!0 -
I would like to join you all this month.
I live myself.. but I do help my parents a few of times a week with their meals... so I think I can manage on £120 for 4 weeks. Food, cleaning and toiletries included.
I wont be able to start until the 9th October.. as that when I get paid.
I am also gonna try and keep a check on how much money I spend on fuel. I am gonna try and keep that to £120 also.0 -

I'd like to join this too. I'm about to do an inventory of what is actually in those cupboards and the freezer. Plan some meals to use this stuff and then plan some more for when I go shopping shortly.
I've been spending about £70 to £80 for a week's shopping (depending on wash powder and pet food). I shall try and make £50 this week. We don't need much in the way of toiletries and pet food at the moment so this should be achievable. Wish me luck!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. i'm in again. and again i've got £200. i have spent £100 of this already and have loads in. so can prob manage rest of month on £50.
i have cupboards full of baking goodies. and freezer is full. only prob is freezer is full of pizza's, chips , etc etc. as when i had very bad morning/all day sickness few weeks back i struggled to cook anything without heading for the loo. so these were the only things that didn't turn my tummy. however mornign/all day sickness now gone, and we don;t want to live on them. but i can use them up and keep them in for when times when i don't want to spend any more money out of the shopping budget.
i've just reduced my milk total from milk man down to 3 pints a week. as i am now buying loads at start of week and freezing it. done just in time as milk man left a letter saying milk going up 4p pint. thats an extra £1 a month. not alot , but is when trying hard to stick to budget.0 -
I'm in again, I'm going to attempt £80 this month to include everything, as usual it is just me to feed
Also planning on trying a store cupboard challenge so will be incredibly chuffed if I can do this and then come in way under budget again

As promised I am joining in this month... I am now without a debit card and a car so shopping is a problem, so for this month (until I get my PAYG credit card) I have borrowed Mum's debit card to do my shopping online at Tesco.
This month my budget is a guess (£175) for just me and my cat, but I hope this will also cover lunches at work which I always struggle with as I can't eat bread very often.
I just did my first shop and made it quite a big one, managed to get a voucher from here - http://www.hotukdeals.com/main.html for £10 off £70 so my shopping was £60!! My cupboards and freezer are still reasonably stocked so I'm hoping this shop will last me a few weeks...
Good luck everyone, will be watching this thread for tips!0 -
I overspent last montyh - not sure by how much as OH doesn't think it necessary to keep receipts
So, I thought as a penance I would set this months target minus last months overspend = £200 - ~£20 = £180We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Im in again :hello:
I have budgetted for £20 per week which works out at £86.60 per month. DD is home for half term in October so that might be an expensive week but apart from that its just me and my little DDog. I shouldnt need any toiletries as I have a cupboard full of smellies and cleaning stuff will be included in total if needed. I am away for 2 nights next week so should be a cheap start to the month.
I started taking sandwiches and a flask to work every day last week and it worked out quite well - I get a lunch allowance from work of £5 per day so if I keep to budget I will be literally living off my lunch allowance:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0
