Spent another €20.31 this morning, leaving me around €75.00 until 31st...not too bad as some of what I bought will go well into November.

We had a fifth birthday party here at the weekend too Redmel...DGS2 was 5 yesterday...he and DGS1 are now home from school and having great fun with all the new toys.

Impressed to see so many of you doing well :T and for those of you who have gone over - dont beat yourselves up, its either a very small amount (Miked :)) or else you've been stocking up on bargains so that will save you money next month!

I havent needed to shop again since my Mr T delivery 2 weeks ago, though I may be forced to treat myself to a savoury slice and a cake if I pass the nice little bakery when I have a day out with my sis on Thursday!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    Hi all

Well, have now returned from my last main shop of the month. I have spent £24.87 so will have £24.50 left to carry forward to next month.

This month has turned into a bit of a store cupboard challenge though so I will definately need the extra for stocking up for November!
  • ahhh this is a mare! Please someone give sme advice on how to get it down! (the food bill!!). I popped into tesco to get stuff I needed on the list and was very good (not getting stuff I shouldnt!) but it still came but at £16 & I'd still forotten the marge!! All tips greatly appreciated! The freezer is full though & just one more batch of soup to make (but I have the ingredients) so that will last me 2 weeks of lunches & suppers so may be within budget!!!

Well im set for coming in under my budget :T ... checked through the freezer/cupboards today.. and have worked out a menu for the next 4 weeks and still have stuff left so im going to work out a couple more weeks worth...

Its all stuff i have ether HM..and portioned up into the freezer or bulk veggies i have blanched and frozen.....

Literally can't fit 1 more thing in either the chest freezer or the fridge/freezer:eek: .. so i want to run it down ready for a winter re-stock.... so i am banning myself from spending one more cent this month :naughty: ... its only 9 days away so shouldn't be a problem...and roll on next month.. as im gonna be super duper tight fisted :rotfl: and use my lovely food out of the freezer :T

  • Hi everyone,

It’s not looking good. I am already over my budget and there are still 9 days till the end of the month. I feel as though I have been fooling myself before doing this challenge. I really thought I was thrifty. :embarasse

I don’t know where the problem lies. I buy most items on special offer. We are not big eaters, oh doesn’t even have a drink before leaving for work in the morning. So where is the money being spent.

All in all, it has been an eye opener for me. I am enjoying the experience and learning alot from it. I really didn’t think that having a budget could teach you so much. Ooh… have to hold back……. I felt a cheesy speech coming on just then.:cheesy:

    Thank you all, lovely people.

Hi all just checking if its okay for me to join in on next months? Wanted to do it this month but the freezer defrosted itself and lost a whole freezer full of food!grrr!(hubby left door open). I have managed to cut about 20 pounds a wk off the main shops this month but still spending £65 for 2 adults 2 children (1 in nappies and wet wipes which i include in costs). Just wanted toa sk how many of you are there in your families to see if its feasible for me to knock even more off next months (am going to start potty training to save nappy costs!) and also if you eat out or buy extras do you include thosescosts in this budget as well? PS Flossyblog just looking at your spending above and i think personally that's really great!£15 for one week?I wish!lol

  • Hey!

Right im starting my challenge TODAY cause if i dont i know ill put it off! My challenge is to spend £20 a week on food just for myself. I go a little crazy in Tesco and tend to get swayed by the deals

The big challenge is to make sure I take packed lunches into work everyday because at the moment I spend about £15 on food from the Canteen. Trying Wraps, salad and pasta this week.:o Anyone got any good ideas?

Going to make a huge spag bol this evening and then freeze that should last me a while!
