Stopping van from getting stolen?

Well that won't happen in the real world, but it'll make you feel better by saying it.0 -

but it does happen, where near i live there are two camps which according to the police are no go areas, stolen items that are known to be there they wont do anything about it
I live not far from one (4 miles), they tried to steal my first car off our driveway (a Metro), I also recently worked near to one and where I worked they used to walk around the business park with bolt cutters and battery powered angle grinders, looking for bikes.
I mentioned it somewhere else on these forums recently, but basically the Police wouldn't do anything and every time they started eyeing up my colleagues ebike, we basically all had to leave the office and try to get them to move on despite being advised to just leave them alone.
But this isn't about bashing anyone, this is about the truth and it's about how the OP should proceed with securing their property.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The Mad Max approach of rigging explosives to blow the car up comes to mind.
Get old bangers. Rig them to blow, and kill thieves.
Saves loads on trials, prisons, etc.
I want to rig lethal traps t trip burglars so they trip and die, when I'm on holiday, but I just know they will still prosecute me: no planning permission for deadly burglar traps.0 -
Do you agree with striders idea of slicing fuel pump with a switch? When I get an auto electrician to fit my reverse sensors get him to fit a secret switch. No alarm on it I think and it's 2013.0

At the risk of showing my age, I suggest taking the rotor arm out...........:-)Started my job at the bottom and liked it0

Absolute rubbish.
It is very easy to steal a van. Amazon and ebay sell Tibbe Copy Keys for Fords which has resulted in an incredible amount of thefts from or thefts of Transits, Transit Customs, Transit Connects etc.
Christ I didnt even know things like that existed! that can't be legal surely????0 -

I agree with that and a wheel clamp. Visual deterrents will mean they leave you alone and go for an easier target. And padlock any valuable portable tools in a lock box bolted to the chassis.0 -
You can buy a GPS tracker out of Ebay of course for around £20 upwards. I used to use them on my bike which I hid in an old Everready light fitting. They work well once set up and wired to a 12 volt battery source. When I had my bike nicked ( I did my job on a bike and had many nicked over the years ) I simply went to the house a few hundred yards away where the tracker showed me it was located and retrieved it from the kid who fancied taking it. They track to couple of metres accurately. I think its also possible to track a mobile phone to a couple of metres. You do not need an expensive monthly contractThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
