Stopping van from getting stolen?

Modern vehicles are so secure that the only way to steal them now is either with the keys or by towing them away on a tow truck.
It has ceased to be the case for a long time that you can just break into a vehicle and hotwire it or screwdriver the ignition barrel and drive it away. They're far more secure than the old bangers you used to buy. The only thing you can't prevent is someone breaking into them to steal the contents. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. That'll be why so many transits are being stolen then.0 -

No, that's the whole point, if there were instructions it wouldn't be effective.
Me personally, i'd find the wire colour for the fuel pump and splice in a switch somewhere.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Tracker device? Insurance likes that.
Or Blackbox insurance, which is fitted for free usually.0 -

As to the alarms. These are the sort of thing I was referring to:

I used to have a switch in one of my cars many years ago. Great idea, it will not start without this being in the on position. Any Auto electrician will fit it for you, the switch is only a couple of quid.
For added protection I would also put on a wheel clamp, them they might not even target your van.

Absolute rubbish.
It is very easy to steal a van. Amazon and ebay sell Tibbe Copy Keys for Fords which has resulted in an incredible amount of thefts from or thefts of Transits, Transit Customs, Transit Connects etc.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

GPS tracker? Alarm system? Shall I get all this fitted? I will have to park it occasionally on a road 100metres from my flat compound. Is there a device which triggers your phone if your van starts moving when you aren't in it?
As somebody that has had a van stolen, and learnt the hard way, it is important that they don't take it in the first place. High quality Dead locks on all doors are a must. They are not connected to central locking and work independently from each other. They will deter all but the most determined thieves. A good alarm that triggers an alert to your phone will also be important. Good visual deterents such as a locked pedal box will make it incredibly difficult to steal.
And as for people saying 'a good steering wheel lock is all you need', well they are taking out of their rectums.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

I'd agree, trackers would be no good, you have to stop it being taken in the first place, the Police will likely track it (if they bother) to a traveller park and then write it off as unrecoverable. It's not worth calling in armed police units just to recover a stolen van.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
