Milk in Sandsburys went up to 76p from 64p 2 litres or so - butter shot up - someone else was told the increases were due to the floods!

Farmfoods still have the cheapest mlk for me - 2 litres for 55p.

Not floods, the Chinese are drinking a lot more milk (aping western cultures). It's a big market that finds it difficult to produce it's own milk (weather conditions - humidity I believe).

Farmer's choice: Sell to Tesco et al and lose money or sell on the international markets and survive. Tough choice.
  • I noticed this the other week when doing my shopping, also the Lurpack butter as well.

I sent OH to buy 6 pints after he finished work the other night and he came home saying"guess what its 2 pounds for 6 pints of milk:eek: ,so I bought 4 instead"-go figure.Yes you guessed it he doesn't buy food shopping very often.

Still the amount of milk we go through a week even a few pennies cheaper makes alot of difference.

At the beginning of August I was paying £0.69 for 2 litres and it's now £0.89. Still way cheaper than the supermarkets :money:

Are you sure you're not confusing pints and litres?

Firstly my apologies for not reporting this earlier, i assumed evry1 just new of Iceland's cheap price, my mum has been buying milk from Iceland for years not only because of the cheap price but because of the pasturising time, if i remember right still about 4yrs back some students from Cambridge stood outside my work palce, a very well known supermarket and campaigned against us, they revealed that Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda had the short pasturising time therefore you are better off buying else where, they recommended co-op, iceland and m&s all with a longer pasturising time! If you buy organic, ignore this.

So not only is iceland milk the cheapest, its also one of the best to have, so winners all round!!

:beer:Well done to iceland for not putting their prices up-yet?:eek:

  • Well Daisy you saved me a trip.
Farmfoods long life skimmed UHT (we use as out in the sticks!) is 4 lt for £1.50. Using 2lts a day these 'small!' changes quickly add up.
Trouble is carting the stuff back to the car - the supermarkets knew what they were doing putting car parks outside!
