Have I got me time zones wrong, and this thread was started at midnight (GMT -12) somewhere and is in fact an April Fool that will last for 36 hours, ending at Noon (GMT +12)???

The above shows speed at (XMP/overclocked) rating !
They probably tested it at lower speeds including 1333 !

The above image Shows WEI at XMP/overclock rating

The above image is with the memory's ACTUAL Jedec activated!
Normal clocked Jedec standard timing !

The above image showing the ACTUAL memory notice the 10700? XMP is OVERCLOCKED!

The above image is Looking at REAL PC3 12800!
Using this memory would effectively cause the CPU to idle at low speeds until required as per original posting as low as 1.4GHz which is beneficial as it could add longevity to the CPU's life!

If you put 1600MHz memory in a motherboard that only supports max 1333MHz the 1600MHz will (underclock) again theoretically not 'working as hard as it could possibly extending the life of said memory.

Information for those willing to accept facts based upon evidence not some cherry picked pulled of some manufacturers site. It's not only corsair no doubt others do it. But I bought Corsair on the grounds it was GENUINE PC3 12800. The motherboard it was bought for supports JEDEC SPD timings up to 1600MHz.

It also supports memory timing above such as DDR3 2800+(OC)/2400(OC)/2133(OC)/1866(OC) Notice the OC?

A woman who had no idea what she was selling, or buying, sold me a pup. It was obvious from her trading history that she bought the memory chip, couldn't get her money back, so decided to sell it on eBay instead.

During the dispute resolution, she claimed she didn't know she listed the wrong (but more expensive) specification, and then she was "in hospital for a major operation" (and yet still keeping the replies coming). Fortunately the arbitration decided in my favour, due to the absurd excuses.

What's the lesson? I try to buy from real shops with real nerds.

The only problem is, my favourite shop kept moving.
They were near Goodge Street in central London, then they moved to an industrial unit near M1 Junction 8, and now they are in Chineham, near Reading. It's like every time I find them, they try to run away from me. :D

Is comment aimed as a snide remark against me NOT KNOWING what I was buying or to a seller NOT KNOWING what they were selling. Your post doesn't clarify pup and chip. Did you go to buy a pup to place in a computer? :D

This is sold in stores as PC3 12800. I bought it form a store on E-bay. Argos have a store there.

Everybody has done crucial system scanner pre upgrades? They are a good source of info results are usually given by PC3 XXXX or DDR 2 XXXX etc etc

    privateILLY,

Why do you continue to repeat the completely incorrect statement that altering RAM speed alters the CPU speed?

Completely incorrect? You tell my CPU that it didn't raise to 3.8GHz with XMP enabled.

You also explain to a previous reply that their CPU didn't raise speed.
But just for you Tarambor I'll put the link on again. Just for you read paragraph 2 regarding Haswell and IVY bridge ;)

    Really!

Ah thanks I've never heard that term. Pups as in young animals and pup as in potentially unwanted programs I've heard off :)

You have come on here to vent your frustration it seems, rather than ask for technical help.

You wont get very far by insulting members who have offered their input.
You have bought some memory, which is not as you expected, that is fair enough.

I understand that the packaging doesnt scream out that this memory is only achieving the stated speeds by "overclocking" its-self.

But, if you read the information that you yourself have posted, then all the relevernt facts are there.
Fair play, i can understand how you feel this is misleading, but the fact remains the memory is as the fact sheets say it is.

People who have pointed this out to you have been accused of trolling but i fail to see how this is even slightly true.
If you need any more techical advice, please ask away.

Otherwise you may want to take your gripe over to the praise vents and warnings forum, as i dont see anything more constructive coming of this thread as you dont want to hear what it is that everybody is going to say to you .

You stating your arguement in a different way doesnt change the hard facts of this interesting situation.
