I deliberately came home today via the same route where the shiny penny glinted at me so tantalisingly yesterday. But on foot. Whether the weather was too dull, or I started too far up the hill, or someone else had got there first (gasp), I didn't find it. However, I did bump into an ex-pupil and had a lovely chat.
Today I am grateful for being recognised by an ex-pupil who had changed so much I didn't recognise them, for a good day at work, for arranging a playdate for dd, for dh cooking dinner, for my snuggly jamas, for my tooth still staying stuck in, for knowing mum is safe and well looked after, for seeing a rose bush in full bloom, for my comfy walking shoes.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Spent a lot of money today, busted the budget. Yesterday I did not go to crafts, cancelled a couple of things for today and moved next monday's appointment back a couple of weeks. Today I have done an online shop + extra things (stocked up on toilet rolls - bulky and tins - heavy and things like bin bags) from my ongoing list with additions from Beloved (she wants to make DS3 a big chocolate cake for his birthday.
I haven't gone into hibernation, I know the socialising is good for me but recognise that on days I go out of the house, very little gets done in the house and the cumulative weight of all the 'things not done' is stressing me out. Sleeping at the weekend did me good and on Tuesday I did quite a bit. So I now have a breathing space, will take life in the slow lane and restart on the healthy eating and lots of walking (plus getting the house back in shape).
I am also taking a fresh look at my crafting and sewing supplies. Some of my boxes and cardboard drawers are damaged so i will be looking to use things up so that things fit in a smaller space and the shabbier containers can go.
Today I am grateful for a visit from DS2 (please don't let him get injured any more at his rugby game on Saturday). He came to borrow money, I gave him his card from my mum, his egg money and extra as his birthday present from me.
Grateful for a phone call from DS1. He thinks the builders are charging too much for installing laminate flooring at his new house so wanted details of the man who did mine and costs to arrange it himself (when building is complete). he had forgotten that I had mentioned dividing the tools, so I will get on with that - I don't think I will have much call to use the sledgehammer at this stage in my life. It was chosen by him in the first place and I can keep hold of my grandfather's one.
Grateful that I have found some suitable pj bottom for DS3's brthday present although I might buy the animal ones (from the muppets) or even turtle ones.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Evening all :hello:
Alas I didn't bag my nsd as I'd hoped for. There was almost a full war at lunchtime when ds discovered that dd had eaten 'his' chicken nuggets and there weren't any left. Disgusting things but the kids love them. I didn't know yesterday when I shopped so I had to go out and buy some more... Boo hiss.
Other than that, all quiet. A bit of marking. A bit of housework. A couple of loads of washing line dried. I can't believe we're getting on towards the end of April already. :eek:Not giving up

Went out for tea after work with the girls and had a lovely catch up. I've now got 2 days off which is very much needed although Saturday will be taken up with the run.

Thanks for the support, Bob. Actually it turned out to be a good day. I picked out three lacy type tee shirts at £10.00 each and when I took them to the checkout C paid for them. He said it was an Easter present as I had declined a chocolate egg. Also remembered I had gift vouchers from Christmas so I bought 2 pairs of "smart" trousers. Feel much better now and will wear some of my new things when I meet my sister in law and cousin (both glamorous ladies) later.
Had a long talk with C yesterday. We both feel that we've got into a bit of a rut doing the same thing day after day. So the Holiday Fund has now been renamed the Holiday and Entertainment Fund and we are planning to go somewhere different once a week (using our free bus pass) and go for lunch somewhere once a week (always looking for a bargain, of course). Small beginnings but hopefully it will help us move forward.
So, bit dull here again today but I'll walk to the restaurant just to get a bit of exercise.
Hope you all have a good day,Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

Hello,
a rather dreich day up here today but at least it might save me watering the plants.
Lunch to work and gym planned.
Last night I had to discard half my seedling as they died in the conservatory. Just one day of proper sun shine and it got too hot in there. Also started some mung bean shoots and chick pea shoots (first doesn't last long in big bags from shop, second can't get) for my salads/stir fries next week.
Tried my new washing machine and it's lovely, so quite and stable when it spins.

Sorry to go all Alvin Hall (pay off your mortgage in three years by only eating baked beans and knitting your own knickers). They must have budgetted really strictly to pay it off in that time, but also they were not normal.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I have arranged a meet up with my friend for a weekend, who I have not seen for 4 years, and not spoken on the phone for about 3 years, until I got this invitation. So I finally have something to look forward to, the plan is to put up a tent in her garden!:money:.
Not until August though:rotfl:.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
