I'm at the same stage as you, Honor 6X v. Moto G5 Plus.

The G5 Plus is available via Currys, but I don't know whether it's actually in stock.

Im looking at the G4 and G4 plus, the G4 plus especially has good reviews. Although its more expensive of course. Should be a good step up from an S3.

There are known issues of 'ghost touch' with both of these phones.

I went for the Galaxy S6 and an app from the appstore called "S Package Disabler Free) Without rooting or unlocking the phone in any way it allows you to disable bloatware apps.

Wifes just got the A3 (2017) not the highest spec phone but the battery WOW... 1d 18h and the battery is on 78% with an estimated 39 hours left.

One of the things that I don't like about the S3 is the amount of bloatware it has, and as far as I can see the later Galaxy's are as bad.

No. I agree with d123 - I've got an S7 Edge after avoiding Samsungs for a long time due to bloatware and Touchwiz. There's less bloat, it doesn't get bogged down, Touchwiz has improved greatly, but here's the killer - you can choose between Touchwiz and the Google launcher when setting your phone up. I still don't know what Touchwiz looks like!
  • The Moto G4+ has a design fault called "ghost touch". Motorola's customer service has been appalling; their only response is to keep returning the phone for repair. Until you take them to court.

If you google Moto and "ghost touch" you'll see plenty of discussion on it.

Based on my experience with them over the G4+ issue I would never buy from them again.

Only a very few as it happens, anyhow belated thanks as I was able to have a good look and play with one at their Newcastle, Eldon Square shop a week or so ago while I was up there for other reasons.

Upshot being I've ordered the G5 Plus unlocked, and am collecting it from my local CPW tomorrow.

If you are interested in considering something different you can pick up new (deadstock) Sony Z3 compacts online for well under £200. Whilst the model is a few years old the phone would still be unused and its a good spec, especially the rear camera.

Google "gsm arena compare phones". Its a great website where you can pick a few phones and it lists the full specs for you to compare side by side.
