Sorry to hear you've had such an awful experience with Everyday Loans, that's really bad practice. Anyway - first off, block their number and do as advised, write and tell them to remove your mobile/home number from their records and that you will not communicate with them in any other form other than in writing. Ignore their comments and be assured that you are doing everything the right way. Just carry on the process with Stepchange and things will eventually tick along as they should. They are not going to suddenly prosecute you, nor will you lose your job. So relax0

At the end of May, SC told me not to send the paperwork back to them until I was ready for my DMP to begin, but I would have to contact my creditors because they wouldn't do it unless I was starting the DMP straight away.
It is going to begin at the end of this month but now I've done all of the work with my creditors I'm not going to bother with SC - I'm going to self-manage.
Best thing probably is to give them a call, or email them if you don't want to phone.
Thanks very much for this. I spoke to MBNA this morning who have given me 60 days breathing space. The lady I spoke to was just so kind it made me feel really quite emotional. I've written or sent secure messages to the other creditors so hopefully they will all give me some time before the DMP has to start.0 -
Thank you for your reply. Yes I have contacted stepchange and they said they had received a very similar phone call from them as well. They advised me to ask them to remove my phone number from their database if they phone again and to have all correspondence in writing. Unfortunately this doesn't stop me worrying .
I know i'm a bit late as you have had some excellent advice from others but it would also be worth adding into any letter that you withdraw your consent for them using your phone no's in line with the new general data protection regulations & to remove said info from any list's or databases that they have linked to your account
That would hopefully make them pipe down a bit.0 -

Big dogs bark louder, you had one call, from a call handler with no authority, who knows absolutely nothing about anything, and was talking utter rubbish.
The next consumer credit act debt that goes to court on a charge of fraud, for non payment, will be the first.
Please, please stop answering the phone to your creditors, everything should be in writing, they would never, ever dream of putting that in writing to you, I believe it’s called slander, and is punishable by the courts.
Personally I would make an official written complaint about that persons behaviour, for the reasons stated above.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi,
I received my pack from Stepchange this morning and am all set to send them my account numbers payslip and Direct Debit mandate. I know the good folks on here recommend token payments for 3 months to build up emergency funds. How do you instruct Stepchange to start it in 3 months? Do I not send the paperwork back to them for a couple of months or do I send it and ask them not to start it until a specified date - say the 1st of December? I really want to just get everything sent off to them for startup but not if it means making my first payment next month.
All advice greatly appreciated.
I sent mine back in August and wrote that I wanted to start in October, which they were fine with0 -
I had all of my starting info from StepChange and it's all good, everything sorted apart from one thing. They sent the payment slip, and the payment that they're allocating to one creditor is HIGHER than the minimum payment that I stopped paying :rotfl: Has anyone experienced that before? I'm not really sure what to do about it.0

How strange and maybe a Q for StepChange to answer. A few of mine ended up being higher than the minimums further on -which caused me problems with those that related to credit cards, because they then started to add interest on and it slowed the default process down. Something for you to keep an eye on methinks.0 -
Hi again everyone. Just another quick question regarding CCA requests. Does it matter how the original application was made? I know all of mine were made online so I wasn't sure if this makes any difference? Thanks0
-
I think an online agreement is just as good as a hard copy written format. So it doesn't really matter how the original application was made.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0
