Try Nationwide or Yorkshire Bank - assuming you don't have any debts with either of those. Both very easy to set up online :beer:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
I'm forgetting my manners, Thank you for the welcome to the forum. I must say the support here is amazing,. Hopefully in a few months time we will be more positive. x0

Im currently £28k in debt and every month i was paying for diesel and groceries etc on my credit card, it was keeping me up at night and spent all day worrying. I've filled out my application and am happy with the repayment on DMP, but have a few questions.
1. My fixed rate mortgage is due to end in Jul 2019, whats the changes of being able to switch mortgages or negotiate a lower rate than SVR?
2. I have a joint mortgage an joint bank account (for utility bills)with my husband, how will this affect him?
3. Do i have to contact my creditors or does Step Change do that?
4. Do i just withdraw the money in my account and transfer it into my new basic account?
5. I have never ever defaulted on a payment and im really scared! Am i doing the right thing?
Sorry for the long winded post and thanks in advance!
Hi,
Are you doing the right thing ??? Hmmm
Can you afford your current debt repayments and still live without using further credit ? If the answer is no, then your doing the right thing.
You have lots of questions there, it’s only natural, I can’t help with the mortgage side of things, except to say others have managed it on a DMP.
Stepchange will write to your creditors, but it does no harm for you to do the same, never bank where you have debts says the old adage.
Nothing at all to be scared about, you are taking matters into your own hands, and starting to reverse the flow, lots of help and advice on here if you need it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hello everyone,
I got my DMP pack from SC yesterday. The problem I have is that the basic bank account application form is for Barclays. 90% of my debt is with Barclays, so it doesn't seem the best idea to open yet another current account with them.
I don't know what to make of SC. Another account with Barclays... I don't trust them or SC at the moment.
Any advice much appreciated.Debt March 2018 £27,596:eek: DMP Start June 2018 Debt Free Date 2023:T:T:T Debt July 2020 £14,700 Debt July 2021 £93000 -

Hello and welcome:hello:
I may have misunderstood you but are you saying SC are encouraging/advising you to bank with Barclays? I've never heard of them supporting/pushing specific banks:eek:
I'm sure you can bank with whoever you want, although everyone will recommend that you choose one that you have no debts with. Barclays is obviously a no-no for you. I'm shocked that SC have suggested otherwise:eek:
I have a basic account with Nationwide. Easy as pie to set up online and I can't recommend it enough:j. There are several others that posters on here are very happy with.
Good Luck:beer:0 -

Another vote here for Nationwide's basic account:T:). Couldn't be happier with them:j. Unlike Lloyds who I had an all bells and whistles account with for decades:(0 -
Can I ask how people on dmp!!!8217;s are getting on with interest being added? Barclays (loan & overdraft with) appear to have a policy of not stopping interest, this can!!!8217;t be the case surely? Also can I ask those with experience of UE debts did you write back (after CCA) and state you believe it!!!8217;s ue or did you take no further action and did they simply keep piling on the interest? Thank you so glad I found this forum!0
