The only people even remotely likely to have trade insurance but genuinely not be part of the trade are people with a sizable collection of personally-owned cars. And they got priced out of the trade policy market years ago...0

Unless he's already got points he is unlikely to lose his licence.
I do hope you're wrong. Four bald tyres and no insurance. People like this are a danger to the rest of us.0 -

Depends on how long he's had his license. If he's had it less than 2 years or has 4 points on it I think I'd maybe walk to court or arrange for a lift there and back. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

If he's had it less than two years and gets six points what's stopping him driving home? The licence will be revoked by the dvla, that's not a disqualification as he can get a provisional as soon as it takes place.
Why four points? If he gets six it'll only add up to ten.0 -

Because 6 points is a disqualification if you've had your licence for less than 2 years ....
Mind you, that won't bother most scumbag types if what I see on "Police Interceptors" et al on the TV can be believed .... "Done for driving whilst disqualified " = a 12 month ban or whatever ... yeah, right, so a further ban is really going to stop them from being on the road. And how can you ban someone who technically doesn't have a license anyway ?
Sorry, rant over.0 -

It isn't a disqualification, so he can drive home, which was Andy's point.
If he gets six points at court the DVLA will be advised and will write to him later to tell him his licence has been revoked.0
