Beware of SatCov Direct Debits
Comments
-
Just had a call from this company (Satellite Direct uk ltd), now calling themselves "Sat Support"(from companies house,a seperate company, though linked) 0871 6641445.Just let my bank know,(in case they ever try to set anything up).The bank said they are aware and If they did set it up,I would by covered by the Direct debit mandate. My bank says they are aware of these scams and told me to keep an eye on my statements.I didn't give them any information. They are notorious for this. It's fraud.
Edit -see date of editing-had another call today-same thing-calling themselves systemguard limited..0 -
i too have been a recent victim of this company (trading under satellite direct uk ltd). i did have a contract with them for sattelite maintenence cover at £6.50 a month, which was all fine, and the correct payments were being taken, until i noticed a payment of £49.99 had been taken last friday. not only was i left out of pocket by this amount, i went overdrawn incurring 30 pounds of bank charges as a result.
i phoned them and on examination of my account, they informed me that i had agreed to take on their broadband and phone services and this was a set up fee. i have never agreed to use these services, as i am happy with my current provider. i did however, receive a cold call asking if i wanted to change broadband and phone supplier about a month ago from them, and i just said id think about it. as a result of this phone call they took it upon themselves to assume i would be setting up with them and took my money.
my bank is in the process of reclaiming the £49.99 as part of the direct debit mandate, and satellite direct has said that if i send them copies of my bank letter detailing the charges, and my bank statement to prove it was their direct debit that caused these charges, they will refund these charges. this however will take a while as the charges dont go out until the end of february.
i have cancelled my direct debit with them and put a block on any further debits being set up under a different reference number. i suggest anyone else in this position do the same. if anyone needs to send bank charge lettes to reclaim the money, the address is Satellite Direct UK Ltd, Imperium House, Ford Lane, Arundel, W Sussex, BN18 0DF0 -
Hi we have just had the same problem with them taking money, we were told it was an input error after being originally told it was for broadband activation, as well as the address mentioned in previous posts there is also a telephone number, it takes time to get through, and the managers names are jane or mark and the number is 08716 641400, hope you all find this helpful0

Would be better to ring a landline than an 0871 number and let them make even more money at your expense.
There are a few landline numbers listed on saynoto0870.com for Satellite Direct UK Limited, but no direct match to this one.0 -
These people are jokers. They took £49.99 from my bank account last Thursday and claimed it was because I had signed up for Broadband and phone cover (something I never agreed to). I spoke to someone called Michelle and she seemed astounded and said she had never heard of anything like this happening before (yet from reading all the above posts this is not uncommon). Then to my disbelief they took a further £6.50 the next day! I had already paid my monthly payment of £6.50 a few days earlier. They promised me an instant refund (which I still have not received) and I also had to fax them a copy of my bank statement (I made sure I hid all private and confidential info).
I would advise people against using these clowns. Sky Protect (Sky's own version) offers the same service and is just £8 a month (definitely worth the extra £1.50 each month for peace of mind).
I hope you all get your money back!!0 -
Thanks for sharing this, as I've just been charged 49.99, twice. I have only ever received one letter from this company and I agreed to use their services back in June. Kept meaning to use them as I need a new remote but I didn't get round to it.
Have already cancelled the DD and will go to my bank on Monday to make sure they are blocked and find out what I can do to get this cash back.
This thread will help. I will report back with any developments.
Thanks0 -
Same thing just happened to me - they took 49.99 and am now on hold for the 'payment centre'. B*stards. Thought they were a bit dodgy and feel a total fool for signing up with them. Are they not breaking the law?0

Same thing happened to me today..they took £49.99 from my account. I telephoned my bank and cancelled it. I then phoned Satcov and they told me that I had set up telephone broadband cover. I told them that I has never set this up and they said it must have been a data entry error. They said that they would refund the money but I told them that I had already cancelled it from the bank, the person that I was talking to seemed quite taken aback. I thought that this had been data entry error but after reading all the posts I realise that it is obviously a scam that they are doing. BEWARE. Keep a close eye on your bank accounts. I will report this to trading standards on Monday.0

I too have been scammed, my bank are looking into it and I am on hold to them on their 0870 number making them more money!!
I see this as fraud, I never agreed to any broad band and they say their phone calls are recorded so they can play back my "conversation" in that case, which never happened.0 -
Sky charge £65 for a call out. Why would anyone pay £72 a year for the same service from another provider?
Additionally, I said to Sky when my box broke they could fix it or I would cancel the sub of £576 a year. An engineer came the next day for free0
