I've spent a few £s here and there so far this month. A ys shop or two, then my 'weekly' shop, which only consisted of bread and yoghurts for the children - we go away for a week next Tuesday (11th), so I don't want to be buying too much... I'll round what I've spent up to £10, as I'm not exactly sure how much the ys shops were.

Another reason for such a small shop is that I won the raffle at Sw this week! £1, and I got loads of fruit, veg, cous cous and baked beans :).

Hi everyone. I've done my first shop of the month for £27.77. I'm hoping this will help with keeping my budget under control because having analysed (sad I know !) the months when I'm over, I've always had a large, costly shop in week one. My meal plan is based around what I have in the freezer and cupboards as well as four no meat meals which has helped.
Good luck to you all for April:)

First shops in April came to £59 and £39 respectively. The freezers very well stocked, and I'm hoping that this month I'll only have to buy fresh meat, fruit and veg. I've bought enough cheese and bacon to last a month, opened the packages and frozen the bacon in single portion packs (I don't eat it), and the cheese in smaller portions and frozen them all so that MrC can't eat the lot in a week :)
Prices are most definitely rising. The same basic groceries this time last year were £3.37 less than I paid this week. Tea bags seem to have soared in price, but we do like Yorkshire tea and have not enjoyed the cheaper labels I've tried. May try a few more though. £4 for 160 teabags seems incredibly expensive to me (Morries prices.)
Pleased with the way we're sticking to a sort of menu plan though, and the way were not wasting a thing.
A better start for me, but time will tell :)

I think they are too - and some things are shrinking! I'm sure Sainsbobs cumberland sausages are shorter than they were - I used to cut them into 4 for sausage casserole but the ones I had yesterday I could only reasonably cut into 3.

Making pineapple upside down cake today, because whenever we have gammon steak I open a tin of pineapple slices and then the leftovers (which is most of the tin!) sit in the fridge making me feel guilty...

First weekly shop coming up. I am another person who tends to shop too big at the beginning of the month, so definitely trying to keep this week in check! Wish me luck. At least I'm going on my own, with a list.

I agree and also only buy Yorkshire tea. I get it on ebay it works out to 1.6p a cup.

£43.69 for me for the big shop and I need to pop out and get bread, tomatoes and cucumber and some milk for a neighbour. Really trying to stick to the list and meal plan - determined to stay on track this month.
