omg_smiley.gif I have only gotten back into the market!

These are the funds I've gone for:-

25% First State - Global Emerging Market Leaders (Large & Mid caps in emerging) Manager Jonathan Asante
15% Jupiter - Financial Oppotunities (Shares in Financial Services) Manager Philip Gibb
    10% JPMorgan - Natural Resources
10% BGI - Cautious Index Fund (60% equity tracking index, 40% fixed interest)
10% F&C - UK Index Tracking fund (Tracks FTSE All-Share Index)
    30% Cash

    Now it's fingers crossed fingers_crossed.gif
How do these stack up in terms of risk and against others in their sector?
Looking forward to your updates on their performance.

First 3 funds are HIGH, next 2 MED and Cash LOW. All funds performed over 3 years in 1st Quartile, except F&C index tracker which is 2nd quartile. Jonathan Asante and Phillip Gibb are also highly rated managers....so it's fingers crossed and I'm in for the long haul:cool: It's tooooo late, you can't talk me out of it........what will be will be...scarrrrrrry LOL

Awww man I have be sooooo dumb. I have needed a new photo printer for over a year. I have an epson picture mate but it has stopped working well, so I decided to buy a new one. Went into PC World today and under the guidance of their staff bought a Kodak printer - cost £100 plus extra for ink and paper - well it's complete S!it - unusable, the photo quality is awful.Worse than the one I'm trying to replace. I can't believe it. So being a girl I shed a few tears and then went on line to see the reviews on Amazon and they are dreadful. I feel totally dumb for not doing some research before I bought it:o

Tomorrow I will take it back to the shop. As far as I'm concerned it's not fit for its purpose...what a waste of time and possibly money Cb5BXMt574558863.gif

Awww schucks - what an idiot!

Aw no, poor you, I know what you mean about the tears, its just frustration boiling over. If they will not give you your money back just stand in the middle of the shop, talk very loudly and they will soon back down when they realise other customers are listening.....it works (I have done it on more than one occasion!)

Do your research online tonight and find the one you want (or should have got ) .
Get the pile of poo exchanged for that model (if they stock it at a competitive price) or just ask for your money back.
    Don't take no for answer.

I hope it works out fine in the end.

Well I did do my research :D and I had a think and reached the following conclusion.

I bought the Kodak printer because the ink costs only £16 for both a colour and black and white cartridge. This is remarkably cheap. The cartridges for my eldest sons epson printer cost between £25 to £35 each. So having decided it was rubbish at printing photos I had a look at what it was like at printing out his coursework....and it was remarkably good quality. Then I looked at its scanning facilities. V V good too. It is also a photo copier which is also useful. So decided to keep it! Son has ink in epson printer and a spare black and white and colour cartridges so we will use these up. After that will use the Kodak printer and should make big savings as he is in his GCSE year and will start his A levels next yr, so he will be doing tons of printing.

As for the photo printing I will probably get a small HP printer as these seem to review well.....

Looks like a good resolution (sorry about the pun!) to the issue.

Rather than get another printer, have you thought about a service provider to print them? My Virgin broadband package includes a free set of prints per month (just p&p to pay I think - must get some printed!); what about yours? Even if not free, if may be cheaper to do so than have a printer for it specifically, plus the images may well have a longer life than inkjet on photopaper.

I've not yet obtained the photopaper for our laser colour printer, but it does nicely on plain paper, so I hope it would be adequate on photopaper for most use.

I have found it very hard to get a printer that does all things well.

We resorted to having 2 cheap (but good) printers.
A Samsung black and white laser for everyday use and a Canon colour for the photos and other stuff that is required in colour.

I'm pleased to see you sorted it out in the end.
  • I'm glad you got through your printer ordeal and found a good all-rounder! I find a cry helps in similar situations too.

Mr SMF2 suggested uploading them, my eldest son suggested taking them into Boots but I like being able to print my own photos at home. I suppose it's a sort of hobby...anyhoo, I don't have the time to do anything at the moment as the kids are STILL on holiday! They have been off for 5 and half weeks and still have 2 weeks to go. These must be the longest summer holidays ever....

Is your DD nervous about starting High School? Have you got the uniform all sorted?

Must be the only thing in 2009 not being cut back on !

Mine are older and past this stage, but this was always the worst week when boredom begins to set in and in reality, whether they want to admit it or not, they would rather get back to their school friends.
