Blimey i think you should get some glasses , look at the size of the text in the listing, i have copied it below :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Size of main Cube :
    4.5 cm across / 1.75 Inches

Size of mini cube key chain:
    3.25 cm across / 1.25 Inches
  • Deanos, can you tell me exactly how big a rubiks cube is in inches/centimeters?
Most people wouldn't be able to. You could say a more honest approach would be to somewhere describe the item as not being full-sized.
I received the item, realised it was not full-sized and politely asked for a refund. Is that really so unreasonable?

Again, I thought it was exactly these situations the DSR was for. And no, this wasn't a private auction. Unfortunately this seller is selling hundreds of these things on this basis.

    Hi,
Just my opinion but with the details he put on his listing I would say it was very clear. He stated the sizes of both cubes and also states they are not the original 80's cube.

With the info given I would have hot a tape measure out and checked before bidding. Before you ask no I don't know the originals size, but know enough to say when looking at the tape it was not the size stated on the listing.

Sorry I know it's not what your going to want to hear but I think this was your mistake. Even if he did take it back you would have to pay return postage so would still be out of pocket.
Thanks for any help and advice given

  • So, Nicky, you don't think that it was worth mentioning that it was not a full-sized cube?

He told you all the sizes, it's not like he was trying to hide anything.

All you had to do was look at a tape measure to see it was smaller than the original one.

told you you wouldn't like my opinion.
Thanks for any help and advice given

I've no idea what a full size rubik cube is or even whether there is a standard size..so if size was important (no sniggering please there at the back) then I would check before I bid. Likewise my son was buying tarot cards a few months back..a few sellers mentioned 'standard sized' cards which was meaningless without actual measurements so he ended up buying from a seller who clearly stated the dimensions as that way there was no mistaking what size they were.

    I did reply to you.

When looking at the tape I could see it was not the full size, even though I do not know the correct size you could see from the measurements this one was too small.
Thanks for any help and advice given

Well there is a standard size. And, the fact is that noone really knows off the top of their head what the dimensions of a standard Rubik cube are.
This is precisely my point, being studiously ignored by most people here.

Put it this way, if I was selling this item I would think it quite important to mention the fact that this is not a full size item, that it is a minature.
I certainly wouldn't list it as a "brand new rubik cube".
Unless of course my intention was to mislead people.
  • Of course, none of this entire discussion has anything to do with my original point about consumer rights, the DSR and ebay.
However it was described is irrelevent given that he is a business, operating on ebay and as such, subject to the DSR.

So much for supporting the rights of consumers.
