I would advise anyone on this thread to steer well clear of Ackroyd legal. 

When trying to get you to instruct them, they promise the world but as soon as they have your money they are terrible!

instructed them on 26th Nov… still not a single enquiry sent to sellers solicitors. Only reason searches were applied for (end of Jan) is because I made them do it whilst I was on the phone to them. They have made this far more drawn out and stressful than it needs to be. Please avoid.

Thanks to those who replied re solicitors, I have one now. Just wondering if anyone in Scotland can advise if they use the home report value for the valuation like usual when buying in Scotland, or do they instruct their own valuation regardless? Thanks

Hi everyone I am new to this thread! In Scotland @Olivia42 I know you said that you have a solicitor now but happy to recommend ours if needed.
Also @Happydays127 that's great news, what was your timescales like?
We are currently at the valuation stage, valuation is being carried out on Monday, we have bought a new build so not built yet, hate this waiting, just want the mortgage to be all finalised!

We had our offer accepted late December, took around about 6 weeks to get our offer, we had to change solicitors late on which delayed things slightly.

Always a good sign when they instruct the valuation! We got our offer about a week after the valuation.

Hi @Happydays127 we have had to change solicitor too and we had a little delay because we had to wait on paper statements for my husbands business account. 
I know I am trying not to think of every little detail but you over analyse everything don't you?!
