I'm looking for a VPN solution as well. All reviews seem conflicting. Some review one service as great, another site and customer reviews review it as bad.

I trust reviews on TorrentFreak so looking at this

you do realise in most cases your vpn is only partial anonymous at best. There are various ways you can be fingerprinted, and more time on-line easier you are to fingerprint, like https://panopticlick.eff.org/

Also say ip address 123.123.23.123 has been surfing all day, soon as the IP checks the emai of joeypesci@domain.com and verifies it with a password, or goes to ebay, shop on line, skype, banking, facebook... and the list goes on, even to logging onto this site. However this information is at least outside you isp's reach.

Then there is your cookie, and super cookie collection to finger print you.

People just get complacent and lazy as time goes on.

Also you have to trust your vpn provider.

You have to break away from Whatsapp, and use Signal instead.

NO off the shelf VPN is 100% -it's just not in their interests to be.

You need to set up your own VPN, depending on what you're using it for. If it's for streaming content then you're far better using a smart DNS proxy instead. Much faster as well.

Sorted it.....It wasn't enough to disable Kaspersky. I've uninstalled it completely and after a restart Cyberghost is working again and giving great results speed wise 162Mbs via WiFi.....Just need to decide on a replacement for Kaspersky as I couldn't find a way to make it work with CG....

The built in AV from Microsoft (Windows Defender) is said to be more robust than 3rd party AV, as it's integrated into Windows. Needless to say the like of Kaspersky and Symantec won't agree!

While you are looking at Windows, consider running Spybot Anti-Beacon to stop Windows phoning home with your searches, typing and files! It's free BTW.

I use Proton Mail too, will be running their VPN soon. I like their ethics.

I went with NordVPN, it was pretty easy to set-up OpenVPN on my (non-flashed) Asus router so every device in the house is automatically utilising the VPN without installing s/w

However, one downside is the BBC is blocking all VPNs so iPlayer won't work while the VPN is enabled.

please excuse my naivety as I know virtually nothing about PIA or VPN but do they work with sites that require you to log in with your username and password? If not wouldn't Tor browser be just as good?
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Speed is the big difference. PIA works at almost full speed of my BT infinity. TOR can be incredibly slow.
But yes, PIA works with all sites (In fact literally all sites as you can for example sign into an American server and use sites you wouldn't normally be able to)
