I do enjoy comping very much, I love going home and seeing if there is any prizes (not there have been anything randomly turn up for ages) and opening my hotmail to see if there are any WEMs, I find it quite exciting!
There have been comments on other boards regarding jealousy when people say they are overpaying their mortgage and I have had comments when I have said I cant afford it as I want to pay off my credit card.
I am always really pleased for the winners on here, only a little bit envious of some of the Harry Potter goodies and the signed Terry Pratchett book
but they are such good prizes! Debt Free - done

I don't tell anyone apart from MSE compers and hubby & daugther. The reason is because I had the same reactions of some people and noticed the "evil eyes" get me in a dry patch for a while . And the other reason is, if I want to offer sth I've won that I think might be enjoyed by someone round me, I do not specifically want that person to know it's a win as it might not be appreciated that way .
That's a choice, but I know I like to share the good news with those who are sincerely happy for you. :rotfl:£2008 in 2008 member number 820 -
Hi ShinyHappy and all,
I'm going to put a different angle on this, i don't tell people i won (not that i have won anything worth mentioning), but i think if i won a holiday or something big i probably wouldn't say anything (apart from people close to me). I think its just some people are strange - they get jelous when you get stuff for free - or see you as a bit of a saddo ! I enjoy comping and i sit at my computer all day (working) anyway so squezze in as many comps per day.0 -
I tell what I've won.
I also give some of the ones I don't want as raffle prizes and always say that I've won them.
Most people are pleased for you - there'll always be the odd one who'd be jealous even if you'd bought everything!42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot:hello: Good Luck everyone !:hello:0 -
I get asked by people to give them certain things if I won, like I am after a Xbox can you win me one? Which to be honest I do resent a little, as many of you said if they wanted a free one, why dont they enter themselves and the answer to that is... I dont have the kind of free time you do and then thats when I feel they resent me.

I have been doing comps for 11 years so u can imagine the Prize fund i have woon over the years as i do Radio comps (big Prizes)
Pople dont belive me when i say what my hobbie is and i list the prizes i have won.
I have every letter sent from comps in 2 A4 folders and give it them to read if they think i am lying!!
Most people at work laugh each week and say what have you won this week.
thats nice but some people do say "i never win anything" i reply
"do you enter?"
then you have the reason why you dont win!!!
moto
Goto be in it to win itWaiting to win an ITV competition.....:A0 -
I tell family and friends when I have won the Holidays and they are pleased or me. Hubby tells everyone at work and they usually say he's a lucky so and so. It also encourages other people to enter compsCompetitions wins 2010

I just think that everyone works really hard to BUY lovely things - clothes, jewellary, holidays, toys, cars etc etc, and if you manage to win lovely stuff, it just makes you feel so good, but others just get resentfull.
But like you say shinyhappy - you use your free time/relaxtion time to enter comps - and if luck shines on you great !!!0 -
i don't think many compers will be going round telling their neighbours and friends that they've won pocket rockets and pet rabbits though
unless of course you live in the suburbs:eek:

I tell close friends & family too and most people are genuinely happy for me as i think most people are shocked to think that you can actually win anything, after all the competition scandals thats gone on recently.
I also get people saying, 'can you try and win me this' etc but i just say do it yourself, its easy!
It takes up too much of my time, i aint got time to enter for the world and its wife!xxDo good and good will come to you.0
