To tell or not to tell?

Hiya guys,

I was just wondering whether you tell your friends and/or family about your comping?

I also wondered whether you tell people about big wins and if you had whether you had ever detected any jealousy?

The reason I ask is that when I have told some people about my sofa and the holiday they seem fine until you mention the word won. I have found this a bit upsetting as I had hoped they would be happy for me. Obviously I hadnt been bragging but when asked about what I am doing for my holiday this year it seemed honest to tell people

  • I tell people about the big wins, but smaller things I don't bother with. Most people are surprised that people actually do win cars!, not that they're jealous.

Don't be ashamed to be a comper! :D They could comp too if they really wanted to, but they don't bother, therefore they don't stand a chance of winning anything.
Chin up and keep comping! :j
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

Obviously some people just want to hear how much you paid for things and are just jealous that you won some great prizes (I'm still dead jealous about the JM chaise longue you won:D ). People can be sooooo weird sometimes. My OH is really chuffed when I win stuff, even though the biggest thing I've won is some whisky and gin. One of his friends grumbled that I was always winning something so OH asked how many competitions he entered. Answer was none. If you don't try and enter you can't win.

Just be happy that you're doing well and if you get that reaction from some folks, just don't bother telling them in future.

HTH and congrats and good luck for the future.:T

I tell them I enter a lot of competitions, and tell them when I win something that I really think something of!

I tell people that I've won and they seem quite pleased for me (not that I've ever had a big win), but you'll always get the jealous people who seriously believe that you're not entitled to anything.

Yep, I tell people that I win stuff too, and when I get stuff for nowt (like my lovely Sony Camcorder and also my fabby Roland digital piano - from Freecycle :rotfl: )

Hell why shouldn't you be allowed to have a moment of glory, it's absolutely FAB that everyone wins such great prizes and hey, shout it from the rooftops, it's a brilliant sensation to win. If they'd won something they'd only be too quick to let everyone know about it

Say it loud, say it clear, I'm a comper and I'm proud! :rotfl:

  • Oooh I tell everyone and they always come out with the old saying 'Oh I never win anything'
Then I ask them how many comps do they enter and of course it's none!

Now at work, all the staff and all my patients are always asking what I have won next.:rotfl:
