Oh well, the BoS rate was good while it lasted.

I was talking to a Cs person for Premium Bonds, yesterday , and he said that they are having huge sales, with many people commenting that they prefer the risk to getting the pathetic rates being offered elsewhere.

Can you offer more interest than my mattress? Mine is very interesting.
  • When this change occurs I shall move accounts. Like I said previously, ATOM will pay me 2% (more if I commit to a longer term) without the hassle of a minimum pay in and direct debits. There may even be a better product in June though I wont hold my breath. Yes, it wont make a great deal of difference cash wise but these companies need to see a reaction when they make decisions such as this. We all leave our money there and they're going to wonder why they never lowered the rate before!

Personally, I'm going to be happy to get off the Standing Order, direct debit Ferris wheel, my heads spinning with all the two's and fro's from account to account and back.

To be fair you're not comparing like with like! BoS are marketing a current account and won't be distressed to lose fickle customers who've been (ab)using it solely for savings, whereas Atom's fixed-rate fixed-term limited access account is clearly a savings product intended for a different clientele.
  • Fair enough, you're right but why do you think 60,000 people applied for a Tesco Current Account in four days? You give somebody loyalty in this world you get shafted, the only way anybody can get noticed is to take action.
