Barclays "Suspend" My Life, Stranding me in Europe. The Dark Side Of Working Remote

NOBODY with 7 figure assets on deposit with a bank who spends long periods abroad or travels regularly internationally on business relies on ONE CREDIT CARD FROM ONE BANK. NOBODY.
This raises the question of why? Why don't you have the expected AMEX products or some other credit card apart from a Barclaycard? Why don't you have any money in any other accounts anywhere?
If I had 7 figure assets with a bank I would have a private banking account and some sort of established contact beyond the normal call centre staff.
When I used to travel regularly on business I had a wallet full of cards and worked on the principal that you could never have too many spare cards ... just in case this one or that one wasn't accepted or one card decided to put a security block on the card as it was being used abroad etc.0 -
I understand; HSBC learnt the hard way in a case in America; a mistake that cost them 1.9B. Barclays however are quite possibly the worst offender of this act and a simple google search without implying any banking institution in the search, will reveal that a query on google into this issue will show hundreds of pages of results; 90% of which are linked to Barclays PLC [aka B*asta*ds PLC].
I have a corporate account; so yes. I am not one of these fools running a business with a personal account and pumping money through it expecting no one to notice.
OK.....I made the last bit up.:DI came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0 -
...me having no alternative but to ride the storm...that's what I found difficult to believe.
What I find difficult to believe is that you continue to fail to realise that you had plenty of alternatives, but foolishly decided not to bother banking with anyone other than Barclays. Not that I believe a word of it anyway, but it's a lesson that people in the real world rather than living a fantasy life need to learn.0 -

Other than that I would love to hear how this turns out as I travel abroad regularly.Evolution, not revolution0

OP's situation doesn't affect your travel, as long as you carry a variety of fee-free cards for overseas use. Any bank can suddenly freeze all your accounts, as reported here regularly, and anybody keeping 7-figure funds with a single bank and even traveling with no other means is either a troll or remarkably naive.
Good point. Actually I carry about 4 different cards most of the time.
I bank with Barclays and they've rang me before checking for suspicious activity. They've also done checks by text.0 -

I need not explain myself; nor feel the need to. Company assets are openly visable online to those who wish to pay to see it. Anyone who wishes to discover I am not lying; can easily do so without my consent or aid.
Thanks.
On another note; Barclays are closing the account. So my assets will be going back to Coutts.
Thanks.0
