So are you going to admit you were wrong about remapping not being able to improve fuel efficiency, given the now overwhelming evidence?
Oh, sorry. I must have missed seeing the overwhelming evidence, while shooting down your claims that everybody in the industry is some major-league bluechip corporate.

Perhaps you'd care to remind me which post number it was in?

Posts #56, #57 and #59. Nigh on 25,000 auditable, proven examples of remapping saving money on fuel. I'd call that fairly overwhelming.

Shooting down? :rotfl: Arguing over semantics to save face.

If you call two supplier press releases and a passing mention in an article about something else "overwhelming", good for you.

And there goes the pigeon strutting over the chessboard.

    !!!!!!....

@AdrianC, you are embarrassing yourself now.

I have mentioned my remap (because I've actually had one) and can prove over 90k miles of fuel logs for business usage that the remap has definitely improved my mpg and the rolling road read outs prove this came with a significant increase in power and torque.

@motorguy, this thread is the embodiment of "never try and argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience"

For my 2p worth I have had a bespoke, rolling road tuned remap on a 2.0 diesel car.

This took power from 158bhp to 212bhp and torque from ~350 to 410.

This has increased my mpg (measured not the twaddle displayed on the dash), from 52mpg to 63mpg on an average tank.

Let me be a bit clearer...

    I.
    Do.
    Not.
    Believe.
    Your.
    Figures.
    Are.
    Even.
    Remotely.
    Credible.

    Satisfied?

Satisfied that you clearly have a real complex about being proved wrong.

What makes you think you are the expert in this? It doesn't appear to be actual data or actual experience and clearly isn't based on forming a formulated argument.

We are as I have actual data, actual experience (not just a singular car or experience) and can use this to formulate a non biased, fact based opinion or argument on the matter.

Fine. So which manufacturer made such a royal cockup of their factory settings that it's so easily possible to get a 21% reduction in fuel use, AND a 34% power/17% torque increase?

I'm surprised you're not with gloomendoom in claiming a 25% improvement in acceleration, too.

You still don't get it then? That's fine, but it's probably best if everyone stop trying to win this argument, that way everyone is just going to lose :)

I'm surprised that it is still going on. I've just realised that I know somebody called Adrian C***.

At first I thought it might be the same person, but then remembered that the chap I know is an expert in the field of IC engines.
