Good morning chums,
Hope everyone is well.
Yesterday was another NSD for me, I've a feeling I'll break my record this month of 16.
Today however will not, as I've football tonight (£3.50), I'll take a low spend day though, I won't be visiting the SM or anything so could be worse.
Have a nice hump day everyone.0 -
Good morning,
Last night was DS's second chess club visit. He's nearly 6 but can't sit still for 10 minutes or try sth new he's not sure about without me by his side. He sat there playing chess with an older boy and with help from the teachers for an hour, while I had an hour to myself outside reading my book! Oh well, I'm chuffed he found sth he likes (and his grandad is too). Plus it is very MSE at only £10 a year and no fancy equipment :money:.

Day Fifteen
Use It or Lose It
(ccl you get a free pass, ignore this bit)
Your garden (back yard/ window box). What state is it in? Do you grow any veg (or fruit - generally easier, mostly stick it in the ground and let it grow).
We all know thrifty and EE are working on a slightly larger scale than the rest of us. I love the idea of a 'friends garden' for growing cut flowers for cemetery visits and plans for child friendly parts of the garden.
I only have a small (15' x 18', roughly 4.5m x 6m) back yard here but added raised beds many years ago. I grew lots of veg (in mid-summer I would use every crate/ box/ old bucket I could lay my hands on to get more space) and one end of term put together 3 very assorted 'bouquets' when the boys decided they wanted to take flowers for their teachers.
In addition to the veg, I have grown fruit - love blackcurrants and raspberries and had several trees grown in old bins. I grow pea shoots indoors and buy pots of basil and other herbs in 10p pots when they are ys (and living lettuce - always plant it up into a bigger pot so it lasts longer).
I have planted collections of daffs and tulips knowing they would be available for Mother's Day and Easter, had lavender bushes for bags and holly to cut for decoration and the cemetery (the ones I grew from scratch should be big enough to cut this year).
We live on the edge of a car park and the boys and their friends were thilled to go and play there once the cars went home - cricket or football, tennis, skateboarding, roller blading and street hockey.
I once raided a skip outside a closed down shop for all the plastic drinks crates that must have spent years in a cellar. Brought them home, gave them a bath with lots of disinfectant and the boys used them to 'build' all manner of toys - from aeroplanes to skateboard ramps (also used for veg in summer).
I find gardening therapeutic, don't really need the reward of germinated seeds, although it's lovely when it happens (till the slugs get them).
Many allotment spaces are under attack, despite being massively over-subscribed. I also want instances of 'colonising' - my ex's parents lived on the side of a railway bridge and he grew potatoes 'over the back wall' (I have plans for the 'backs'). Also what facilities your local park offers - more local facilities under stress/ attack.
Day Fifteen Wellbeing
Plan a coffe date with a friend (or other beverage, not necessarily in a commercial establishment - sorry Bob)

Mothernerd, that's a very impressive use of your small space.
Oh I can't wait. But as I live in what is considered Northern Scotland for some reason. I'll need to wait a wee while yet. I might start my indoor seeds this weekend and my pot plants like toms and peppers. A few seeds go straight outside but I'll wait till next weekend or after for them.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Day off today bit wasted really. Got a Drs appointment something putting off for ages, middle of the day so messed my day up but relieved now been and hopefully will be sorted.
Called to see friend Birthday this am, did volumes of ironing before Drs and then came home and lay on sun lounger, even got slight colour. Fell fast asleep. Then attacked garage was awful in there, better now tidy. Will need to take couple items to tip.
Bought some bread and ham today. Sure this is worst SFD 2/15 ever, back on track tomorrow.
Grateful for
Lovely sunny relaxing day

Today's thankfulness:
* birdsong along the canal path
* DS2 & DS3 having a good play and run around in the garden after school
* another beautiful day
* a long hot bath this morning
* Tiger balm!
* My iron tablets beginning to have an effect - am much less washed out (still tired, but not in a totally washed out way) and breathing is improving (unless I'm trying to run! :rofl
Couch to 5k day 2 completed - hence the long bath and Tiger balm!
Spent some time in the garden after school pruning back some dead bits - lovely to see so much new growth around. Also dug out all my seeds from the garage - it would appear that I have lots of various salad leaves, cress, sunflowers, nasturtiums, poppies and herbs - and nothing else! Will try and get some courgette & tomato plants from the car boot at an appropriate time (can usually get them for 50p, max £1, as opposed to GC prices) Will use the salad leaves and cress and also plant up sunflowers and nasturtiums with the smallies. The poppies can just get scattered onto a bed where there is just a (very pretty) tree and lots of Spring bulbs. they're out of date by a few years, but some may germinate - nothing ventured, nothing gained
SFD - have done a bit of business paperwork, one load of washing, re-hung the curtains in the family room, C25k/ long bath/ lounge around with a book for 30 mins after bath (as well as in bath). Smallest has been delivered to Beavers and I will shortly have to collect him. Once small bedtimes are over I will do some ironing if I can find something to watch (V1rgin tv having problems with catch up tv for around 3 weeks or so now) and list the 3 things I currently have for fleabay
Then bed with my book - I may even finish it tonight

Today I am grateful for the glorious sunshine, for getting the first mow of the year done, for time with dh, for my icyland free £5 that I spent, for making washcloth bunnies, for a great parents evening with dd, for catching up with another school mum to discuss playdates, for a longish chat with big sis, for free lobster (snaffled from dad's a while ago) , for laughter with dd.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

SFD but have lost track of how many overall. Little bit of a wasted evening here but finally made a dent in the mountain of clean clothes that needed sorting and claimed back my furniture as well as made some banana bread to tackle the sugar craving.
Have coffee planned for tomorrow at a friends house (very MSE).
Today am grateful for a colleague bringing his baby in to visit at work, really cheered up the office this morning, some lovely sunshine and for having only one day left at work until holidays.0
