I'll probably get flamed for this, but the OP is not the only one who thinks that a disability means rules or conditions don't apply to him.

OP, Premier Inn prices are reasonable anyway.

I actually agree with you on this- it does boil my blood!

The time I got a refund I rang to cancel the room so someone else could have it as I noted they were fully booked that night. Having worked for PI I knew how strict they were so I was quite prepared to lose my money. They asked me why I was cancelling, I explained I was ill in hospital and they refunded me no questions asked.

Anyway she went off to Birmingham on 24th so maybe a more a more attractive trip came up there.
  • i worked for premier inn for a long time and most of the time they're very good at refunding customers. but complaints like this irritated me no end to deal with because you act so entitled. you KNEW the risks of your son's condition and you KNEW the t&cs of a saver rate yet still went ahead and booked it. of course this is your fault. book smartly in future.

Early 2014, Dad booked two saver rooms at a PI in early July. 7 weeks before the date, mum broke her hip and had it pinned. So was in no physical shape in visiting where we were originally going or traveling 120 miles.

Dad rang PI call centre 5-7 days before date of stay. Explained the above and was surprised to get his money back.

This case is like that of the poster who ended up in hospital ; ie both were unforeseeable circumstances, but the OP made a booking knowing that there was a high risk of circumstances (the weather) preventing the journey.
  • Premier Inn are falling from their previous "Savoy-like" standards in being so correct with their interpretation of booking terms & conditions.

What is sad about it? There's little point in having different pricing if they're going to let people cancel any booking at will.

I stayed with Premier Inn last week, and was really impressed at their efforts to help those stranded due to the storm. There were no spare rooms but they were actively helping people look for alternatives, they had a list of availability elsewhere and were allowing them to use their wifi to search and book. That is good customer service.

every business follows their terms & conditions correctly or what's the point in having them? whenever you book a saver rate with premier inn, it states multiple times this is non-refundable. i think you'll find that they are still very relaxed in what they will refund and of course one of the only hotel chains to offer the money back for a night's stay if you didn't get a good night's sleep. to suggest they should bend the rules for anyone that asks isn't good business practice

No. Absolutely not, especially if they have read some of these comments...
