Another thing take pictures of them just in case show,so IF there is any problems you can show who is responsible for it. Helpful if you have before and after pictures. Hopefully that wont happen, but they do have a reputation unfortunately of leaving there muck0

good point poppycat.
I'm glad that things seem to be happening, maybe shooting off like that isn't the best thing to do in most situations but fingers crossed it seems to have done some good in this instance......
keep us updated0 -
Good idea about placing a digger in front of the access gate, I have seen the odd placed on my travels and always wondered why someone would place it in front of gates, but now I know why.
If you have any barbed wire, place that alongside too, as long as you have a warning sign, its bl00dy terrible what you have to do to safeguard yourself from these people.
Just keep an eye on things, pity you couldnt borrow a CCTV camera for a few days, just incase something happens.0 -
If it were me, I'd start by parking myself outside the acquaintance's door... and sit there, night and day - not moving - until the sod came home.
Chances are, most people come/go from their house within 3-5 hours, not days. So trying to catch them between, say, 3pm and midnight (if they left work, went straight out to an evening class then onto a pub ... they'd still have to come home).
Then, yes, papers. Full story. Name the acquaintance.0 -
dont forget to attend the next parish council meeting to air any grievevences you have and to tell everyone in your parish how wonderful the parish councillor is(not) and every other council meeting after that.think thats the least you could do to repay his kindness......People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with
LOVE ME, LOVE MY NEWFOUNDLAND.:A0 -
Locking the gate is only gonna slow them down a little if they decided to come back. Paclocks, chains, and gates only take a few seconds to get through with an angle grinder, or slightly longer with something basic like a large crowbar. A big pile of soil/gravel/large tree trunk/ditch is gonna slow them down a LOT more

Also take note of all the vehicle registations, and if you're really bored their names aswell. Don't ask for them though as they'll no doubt give you a false one, just listen in for one of them to shout "oi paddy the gas is empty again!"
Oh and funnily enough we've got gypsies in the field next to us! As far as I'm aware they've bought the land, and they even applied for planning permission. Aint really spoken to them but they seem ok, aint had any trouble off them. Ok I'd prefer it if they weren't there but at the end of the day everyone needs somewhere to live...0 -
...the husband's lorry...
How big is this lorry? Is it a transit-size vehicle, or bigger? Do you know if it is being used for trade or business purposes?
If it's bigger than a 3.5 tonner, and used for trade or business, they must have an operators' licence and an authorised operating centre, which your yard isn't.
It may open up another avenue for persuading these people that they should be somewhere else..... :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I really think it would be worth putting some CCTV camera's high up on your premeses. Whether covert or visible I am not so sure? But it could be a good investment now. In my opinion If they really are moving after such a 'trivial' confrontation I suspect they will leave fairly soon then retaliate some time in the future
Gotta say I haven't seen a lot of good come from traveling comunities, ever. They ripped my grandfather off to the tune of a few thousand and then came back for more and he was nearly blind so nice and easy  Then a local Gypsy spokeperson was reported to say they were harmless and just minded their own business  In my opinion these criminals get away with far too much and should not even be asigned council land but I guess that ain't going to change soon!
Anyway I truly feel sorry for you all this because you thought you were doing a good deed? It's a disgrace!!0 -
I would also be thinking about letting the RSPCA know that the dog is neglected and tethered all day.
poor mite:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hope they have moved on and you have got your home back.
