UPDATE: Insurers have stated that from the engineers report on our car the damage the third party is claiming does not coincide and have now got a text from Examworks Investigators acting on behalf of my insurers to arrange an appointment so no idea of what they are and will do
Sounds like the TP are trying it on with an excessive claim. Nothing for you to worry about, just answer any questions they have as you have nothing to hide.0 -
Thanks seems like it as I'm not even claiming for anything just getting worried for no reason I guess will update as soon as anything happens0

New poster here - not to hijack the thread, but just to add to jag112's experience, I too am having an extremely similar experience with Go Skippy / Eldon. I will also contribute my findings as I get them from those guys. Interestingly, the policy is underwritten by "Southern Rock", a Gibraltar (read as 'tax haven') based firm. Eldon have kept insisting that as long as Southern Rock refuse to indemnify, they won't do anything about the claim.0

Thanks keep us updated no new news for me as of yet though0

So a couple of weeks ago, after hearing nothing, I got a "courtesy call" from GoSkippy telling me that the third party has just put in a claim for personal injury. My heart sank as I oiled myself up and prepared for potential bankruptcy... ...then during the afternoon of the same day, I got a call back from Eldon telling me that the underwriter's decision had been overturned (i.e. they accepted my complaint and documentation) and that Southern Rock will now indemnify and the claim should resume as if I my MOT certificate was in-date. I received an email confirming that that was going to be the case and that Southern Rock also gave me three days to accept whether the policy should be re-instated.
Fast forward to the end of last week, and I had heard absolutely nothing since so I decided to call them. I got passed around different departments and initially I ended up speaking with their third party claims department. After being transferred again, they informed me that they had intended to "collect the vehicle and proceed with the technical assessment" in terms of valuing my side of the claim. I had informed them that I had intended to scrap the vehicle as I had collected it from the storage (otherwise it would've racked up ridiculous costs plus the complaint had not been processed) - they then gave me the option of submitted the certificate of destruction as well as the most recent MOT certificate to provide mileage - so that they can refer to Glass's guide and base the value on that. Over the phone, they also stated that they can reimburse me the costs that I had paid upfront as a result of recovery (at the scene of the accident) as well as vehicle storage.
I'll update as soon as I hear more...0 -

Go Skippy and Eldon owned by the one and only Arron Banks, Google him0 -
Yes, fully aware of that (now). Wasn't aware at the time of purchasing.0

Im unfortunatley in the same boat here. Same company (GoSkippy/Eldon). They said they were refusing, I found this post, complained, they asked me to find any reciepts of proof of maintenance, I said that Ill look but doubtfull (Last maintenance was 2 new tyres about 6 months ago, paid cash). Not that i needed it, I said if i can't find it, do i just send in my complaint and complain to authorities, was told to call back first to 'see if they can sort anything'.
Looks like they know they're caught out trying it on. Although i need to call them back as havent been interested in picking my car up or even looking at it.
They've also cancelled my insuranceNo doubt will be an issue when i come to reinsure with a new car. Live and learne i guess!
Great that i saw this post, wonder how many have been duped before0
