worth knowing me thinks, so i shall say NO test rides....
Personally I would NOT buy it without a test ride.
It might be ONLY £400, but the buyer stands to lose all the money if there is a problem.
I would be suspicious if someone was selling without a test ride.its only a £400 bike, so they either want it or they dont...
Even if I wanted it, I would want to test it first.
How much is the tax out of interest?
I have a 500cc bike and tax is £45 per year, which is £3.75 per month.
Personally I think you will lose a lot more than the cost of the tax if you don't allow test rides.
You will have to offer a knock down price if you don't allow people to ride it.
Just my opinion.0 -

well.. test is £20ish presuming nothing wants doing to it - which needs insurance to ride it to test centre....
tax is £45 cant get this without insurance = ins is £200
so total is around £260 so id rather knock the price down than spend what i aint go...
mmmmm test rides... i know what you mean, but 2 of me bros have bought bikes without.. so i guess we will ave to see....
oh !!!!!!... what a dilemma - it was my brothers bike, he died suddenly and i just cant bring myself to ride it... so am selling

Maybe I'm just being cautious.
I nearly bought a bike for £1800 but I'm glad a friend was there to ride it for me because it was "bent" after an accident.
Perhaps your best bet is to put it on ebay explainined why you aren't offering test rides.he died suddenly and i just cant bring myself to ride it... so am selling
Sorry to hear that.
If you put it on ebay, you can explain all this and say it's sold as seen.
Another option is to push to bike to some private land near you.0 -
lisyloo wrote:Yes, try your house insurance. You might find it much cheaper than a motor policy.
If it's in a locked garage then so much the better.
You would need to ask the insurer whether they are prepared to cover the motorcycle as a specified item, which in itself may result in an additional premium. Most (if not all) insurers specifically exclude motor vehicles from their definition of contents.0 -
there is a "country lane" near me, which has no road markings on but i guess is a public road... hay ho... guess if it sells it sells, if it sits there for another 2 yrs it sits there... ;-(
need the money and cant pay out to get it road worthy... so options are low...
thanks everyone... will think of private land... maybe an option... my daft mate says "ahhh nowt will appen, police wont pull him ... blah blah ..." i aint risking 6 point for no one.
shame really cos its a good genuine bike... saw one on ebay sell for £100.... mmmmm not a lot really is it....

Next month I am taking my CBT and buying a bike... have been searching net for bike insurance and came across a company called
https://www.ebikeinsurance.com
After having a quote they seem to be by far the cheapest around....which in turn unsettled me! Has anyone had any dealings with them?
they are the trading arm of Southern Rock Insurance Company Limited.
Southern Rock Insurance is regulated by the Financial Services Commission (Gibraltar) and is also a member of the Association of British Insurers (ABI).....still would like anyones opinions/experiences. Thanks.0 -

Has anyone got this insurance. I am having a new motorbike and think this is a good idea but I can only find this type of insurance on the internet for cars. Does anyone know of a company that does this for motorbikes. Thanks :beer:0

Hi -if you've already renewed it's a bit late but ebikeinsurance do include breakdown insurance at no extra charge. This usually makes them very competive when you addthis charge in to other quotes.0
