By heck! That is wonderful news Fortune! Bravo :j

Your are an inspiration with your 'moving a mountain a few stones at a time' - and continue to be so. I shall watch - and learn with interest and see if I should cast around and start shifting a few pebbles of mine own!

So pleased for you and MrF :D

Thank you everyone. We are feeling a little more recovered now. Cried off a trip to London today as we just couldn't face it. Might still have to pay for the tickets but won't have to pay out on travel and meals.

I have spent the morning so far crunching numbers. The plan is to take a 5 year fixed rate mortgage over the longest period available (limited due to our age :(). This will give us affordability and flexibility. We will start overpaying immediately though. Because it's a fixed rate we will only be able to pay a minimum of £500 at a time and are limited to 10% annually. So not as flexible as the mortgage we have at the moment but we can make it work and I very much doubt we'd have enough to get to 10% anyway.

There won't be anything to do in the house initially and we have negotiated that curtain rails and curtains will be left. We will need to pay for some appliances though. Some of ours are integrated so we can't take them with us. And we'lll also need to have quite a lot put aside for renovating an outbuilding. This will provide garaging and workshop for Mr F and will need to be completed quite quickly as there is no secure outside storage at the moment.

Scary as we are going back to the mortgage position we were in when we first moved here over 10 years ago  I know we'll be ok though and all the things I've learnt from MSE will help.

A trip to the attic is planned this afternoon to find more things to sell :D

We've definitely moved some stones now Greying and even though there is the physical move to come I feel as though we are half way through at least.

    Happy weekend all.
