Small loan but want it gone!

  • Although the tent is expensive, you have to remember to treat youself once in a while. Live is too short (to a degree) and you need to also be happy as well as MSE :D

I've had a bad week in the spending front and although i'm gutted, I would rather see the Mrs with a smile than worry too much about £55.

    Hows that loan looking now?

  • Thanks Hillwalker, I'm really picky with tents and I do like to see them in the flesh before I purchase them... I'm in Essex, closest store that has it in stock (so maybe not even on display) is Berkshire... Maybe I'll check further into the season or if it goes any cheaper.
I have ordered myself a fleece sleeping bag liner, found online for £8.50 delivered to store!
Next weekend my bike rally is probably going to cost me around £100, I've budgeted £120 for it and will be a huge laugh but not very MSE.

I do sneakby your thread and read though don't always post. Always nice to treat someone and see them smile and happy from it! You'll get there on the debt front though!

Well it's at £1120 as hated the odd figure but I've added £62.50 to my emergency fund and £23 to my yearly bills/small repairs account so all in all that's £389.50 to debt and savings so far this month! Oh and £75 to one side for download festival and £20 to my Christmas fund so £484.50 in total. :j:j

Only just added all that up and can't believe how much I've put to one side this month!
I've got tonnes of food in (and Stuff to make bread) so in theory don't need to buy any more food this month, all my direct debits except my phone is sorted :j

I do have to go to my sisters Sunday... She had a baby early February and still haven't gone to see her! Got a bike event on Monday and then my rally next weekend.
  • I'm back from my weekend away and did have a good time and a laugh with friends but apparently my arm isn't happy camping this soon after surgery.
With how much pain and lack of sleep over the weekend I've decided to cancel download festival. It's just not worth the damage to my body and the pain.
On a good note, I took £120 and came home with about £70!! Cheap weekend, so with that money and money saved by not going download I'll have even more money going to savings.

I think i need to give my arm another 6 months to a year before I attempt camping again, though do need a new 2 man tent (between burn marks, mud and a few other things after lending it to a friend) I left it for the local scouts (any equipment left is given to them and it's still usable and should help someone out) and my air bed had a leak so will need a lot of new gear!

I may treat myself to take out at some point soon for not spending no where near as much as expected.

    Hope everyone is doing OK.
  • Hi all!

Payday so doing the usual shuffle of money

Credit card left to pay £870 (will be gone in 2 paydays!)
Savings for TV as no longer going download £185

My plan is to either send £100 to my emergency fund or to the TV fund. It's my birthday this month and my family are giving me a little cash I think so if I put the extra from them and the £100 to TV fund I could buy it in May.

Decisions to make as always! Would be a nice birthday treat!
  • Went to the parents yesterday and had a nice time visiting them. Ended up taking home washing tablets my mum didn't like so I've now got tonnes of washing stuff and don't need to buy any for ages :-) did give her some filter media for her fish tank and wouldn't let her give me money for it in exchange.
We ended up popping to an electrical retailers to have a look at TVs as I do like to get their opinion on big purchases and then ended up ordering a TV online. Cheaper online plus this retailer had an offer for a free 5 year guarantee. Could have got it £40 cheaper elsewhere but only with a 1 year guarantee. Being delivered Friday :)
Not like me at all to treat myself without having the full amount put to one side but with the £100 I was undecisive about and birthday money and cash I needed to pay into the bank, it's all covered without hitting debt or anything else!
I did pop to Tesco after my parents to get a few bits I needed but didn't buy tonnes or get things that would be wasted or just treats really!
Need to decide what to cook now for dinner and tomorrow get moving with more diy... One day my flat will be fully decorated!

So TV was delivered and managed to sell my old TV yesterday. Got £40 off a mate for it so may actually treat myself with the money.
Been having so many problems with my Tesco orders. Called me today to ask about how it all is and they've sent me a tenner off voucher which is great!

The other best man has sorted the event for my mates stag do... £75 for laser tag and a few other bits in London which really isn't my cup of tea. That's without travel, food or drinks and not including the evening so may well just not do it. It'll end up being around £200 including the evening and thats a hell of a lot of money for me!
Managed to get a bargain of £3.50 for a big tub of dulux easy care paint, should be the perfect colour for my hallway and normally £19.50 so really good bargain!

    Hi!

You've posted on my diary but biggest tips...

Shop around for insurances and don't automatically renew
When buying something, really think do I need this or do I just want it?
If you currently buy branded food, can you go down a brand or shop at aldi or Lidl?
Instead of nights down the pub or coffee shops with friends, can you do it at a friends place and take turns over who is hosting?
Instead of take away pizza, how about create your own?
Can you walk to work or do a lift share for a bit of petrol money rather than public transport or driving yourself (or offer colleagues a lift for petrol money)
Do you have anything you haven't used or needed? Can you sell it?
Turning off things when not in use to save electric
Showers instead of baths is normally cheaper if you're on a water meter

If you pop to the old style boards there's loads of tips on saving on groceries to electricity to cleaning products etc

Had today off and so far managed to Declutter and list a load of items on faceache so hopefully I'll get some space and extra few pennies. Someone is interested in my 5 man tent so hopefully they'll collect as said on Thursday.

Still got a lot of tidying up to do but getting some things listed online has made me feel a tonne better.

    Payday!!!!
£500 paid off so only £370 to go!!!
Have treated myself to tickets to see Marilyn manson and 2 mates owe me still for the tickets so savings aren't looking as high as they should.

Been starting to date someone but I don't know if it's going to work out... Not sure if it's just me being irritable but this morning he sent me a message didn't reply as getting ready for work and work and all so an hour later got another message of xxx
To most, probably sweet, to me irritating!!!

Hope everyone is ok and their plans working!

2 weeks to payday and everything is on track.
I had the service charge bill through for the flats and it was nearly £200 cheaper than this time last year! Only £492 and this has been sent across.
As I've had an updated bill I did the books on my yearly account and I'm in a lot of credit for it! I do keep money to one side in it for the vehicle breakdowns or something small going wrong but it's enough that I may use some for some new boots for my friends wedding in October.

Lately I've been putting all my change no matter the size into a jar and I've got £69 to pay into the bank in full bags!

Have had a slightly spendy month for me but then the extra I've spent is from overtime earnt and has just meant I've gone over my budget for myself. Shouldn't need to put anything on the credit card or borrow it from savings just means I probably won't have much of my spending money to go into savings

    Hope everyone is doing well!
