In my last post above I mentioned we are going in November but I forgot to ask all who've been recently and stayed on Jumeriah Beach if the building work is bad.
I have seen photos and the hotels on the front are completely over shadowed by the unfinished buildings behind.
Am still eager to go as our kids would love the cranes and trucks etc, especially my daughter but I am a bit worried about the level of noise.
Was it a problem? How much did you hear at night?
Thanks

Hi,
haven't been there myself but asked this question a little while ago as we were thinking of staying at Al Hamra fort.
This is the reply............
"Hi Moose,
I'd recommend the place - not that I've been there, but my parents have... and loved it! Although you're about 2 hours from Dubai, you are still in an 'emirate' or city - which has a shopping mall - http://www.manarmall.com (complete with Dororthy Perkins I believe!)
As for the hotel itself well they offered free shuttles in to Dubai, which my parents did a few times over the 14 day holiday - but felt that they'd done more than enough, and were happy to be away from the city. The hotel has lovely grounds, and a private beach and lagoon... plus a big pool. My parents were very happy with their room - large and very luxurious, but I'm not sure what type they had.
The Hilton, from what they say is just across the road - and not on the beach, so if you wanted to have easy beach front access, then opt for the Al Hamra Fort!
If you have kids, they'll have plenty to keep them occupied, as the mall has a 7 screen cinema etc... if they're old enough!
Nice place, and a great alternative to the Jumeirah beach strip...
Have a great time..."
Not much information but it was all I could get, hope it helps a bit.

Hi all,
Just thought I'd draw your attention to something I found while researching my impending holiday to Dubai.
The Jumeirah Beach Hotels ( incl Burj al Arab ) have a loyalty card called a Sirius card. Register on line during October at https://www.mysiriuscard.com and you will receive 1000 free loyalty points ( equivalent to spending $3000 ).
These can be used to buy all sorts of things , free Dinner for two in the Burj, desert safari, 8 free passes into the water park, spa treatments in the JBH and Burj and free room upgrades.
I have just received confirmation that my points will be added within 7 days so a free desert safari / water park / dinner beckons.

Think I will! Gives me an excuse to go back now! You get quite a lot for the free points too.2p off is still 2p off!0

From what I can see there is nothing to stop registering your partners as well, looks like I can get the following for no charge .
desert safari * 2 = 900 points
wild wadi * 2 = 240 points
afternoon tea at Burj = 400 points
evening meal for 2 at JBH = 450 points
Saves about £300 by my reckoning.
Hope it is as good as it sounds !!!0
