Hi, don't know if this is too late but might also help someone else. We have stayed at Le royal meridien -it was very nice, you do also need a sea view cause of building. The meridien at the airport is also nice and we have booked again for March 06 as it was £1,000! cheaper than a sea view and sand at the Royal meridien. I don't think just now it is worth that much of a difference, if you want you can go to the sisiter hotels at the beach free of charge for the day (every day i suppose) and they run a courtesy bus. Meridien at the airport also have a village which has approx 11 restaurants and is popular in the evening.

hi actually started a thread myself on this but were looking to fly out and meet my brother in law (whos just bought a house out there) so we only need the flights....we will have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old travelling so want a direct flight as cheap as possible really, as always with the internet I end up getting swamped with choices and I end up getting confused with all the offers, everyone i have spoken to says go with emirates.. nearly booked a flight today but got all thru to the checkout and was told flights not available (after all that) that was about 1400.00 for all 4 of us which seems really cheap. Oh yeah travelling ont he 27th of dec and returning on the 9th January. wheres the best place to start looking.....

    thanks

one of the cheapest company doing flights to Dubai:

Only thing is that the flight takes a route through Abu Dhabi. But good prices if your willing to put up with the extra 1.5 hour journey.

thanks for the links, unfortunatley it sesm on BA have a direct route which are in our price range.... I'm not sure with the little uns they can cope with a stop over aswell.. Anyone know about booking an infant on a plane, I spoke to one airline and they said that they can request a infant basket/cot but it cannot be gauranteed that has to be arranged when you get there.

Also if we go with BA do that still have probs with the caterers, do they not provide food on a flight now because of the union problem.

Think the problems are now sorted, food is still available (think it pretty much always was on long-hauls), think BA will be pretty accomadating, once you've booked maybe speak to the airline.

If you want to deal with humans, I'd thoroughly recommend you try calling Dukes Court travel and if you want a name, Ruani is VERY helpful.

On recommendation of friends, I booked Glasgow/Dubai/Colombo return for Nov/Dec and they were the cheapest and by far the most helpful, inc holding flights etc. :)

    Hi,
I must ask.....have you thought of booking a night flight? Leaves Heathrow (if thats where you are flying from that is?) around 8.30pm and arrives in Dubai at around 6am. Only because the kids sleep for us!
We found that best for us and are going to try to do the same again in November. Also when we asked for a sky cot we were given more of a baby bouncer thing but it sits up and lies down for the baby and our little one (she was 7 months old at The time) slept the whole flight in it.
I think it is on a first come first serve basis though so check in early.
