I found the temperture lovely. no problems for me or family with it (45 degrees). the clouded sky makes it fine. unless you plan on having a serious workout in the sun! speaking to other familes from england out there, they didnt find it a problem either.

We've managed to bag some very cheap flights from https://www.travelocity.co.uk

Manchester to Dubai at £265 each (approx) incl taxes for 2 adults and 2 children.

Going in August. You have to be a little flexible on the dates, but the travelocity website lets you find the cheap fare easily.

Called up MBNA yesterday to increase my limit and advise them I'm going away, they increased my limit and the lady had been to Dubai before and gave a hint on duty-free, i.e. buy it when you land to save you the hassle of getting it when you depart. Very nice lady and very good customer service. She also told me how lovely it is and how nice the weather is too!

I think someone has posted on here before that customs is similar in price to shops in the city anyway.

    HTH.

We are going to Abu Dhabi next week for four weeks.
Got a HERTZ car for 3 weeks for £180 all inclusive, and the Conrad hotel, Nasser Square, Dubai for £70 for 2 nights, half board.

    Hi,
how about the Palm Hotel next to the Hard Rock Cafe, I know it's not near the beach but the hotel bus takes you to a hotel on the beach, it was the Metropolitan at one time I'm not sure if that's who they use now.
I've mentioned before, upstairs they have an Irish Bar that is very reasonable on prices for beer and food.

    I would certainly recommend Fujairah.

We stayed at Le Meridien Al Aqah last November and thought it was great. Beautiful beach and stunning mountain backdrop. It's also quite a lot cheaper than Dubai. It has a childrens club with nannies to look after them (all free). Look at le meriedien website for deals.

The downside is that there is little to do except relax. Shame!

A good bet would be to spend a few days there and a couple of days in Dubai. The UAE weekend is actually Thursday and Friday and we found that a lot of the city hotels are cheaper over the UAE weekend whilst the beach hotels are more expensive.

On the subject of flights, you will often find Abu Dhabi at least £50 cheaper than Dubai and usually you can fly direct from London.

Everyone has different views about the best times to fly but we prefer taking a night flight to the UAE, getting you in at around 9 am and giving you most of that day by the pool.

Coming back there are usually flights leaving DXB or AUH at lunchtime or early afternoon getting you back to UK at around tea time. These avoid either a very early start or having to hang around the hotel (usually having checked out of your room) until the night flight leaves at around 2 am.

Whenever you go you will find that the staff in the hotels are incredibly friendly (especially with children) and generally very helpful. The standard of service puts Europe, The Carribien and North America to shame.

How far is Fujairah from the airports?
