Is my sister birfdy today too!
Unfortunately the ancient oven in my new place is only fit for non-rising, non-temperature-sensitive things. I suprised my sister on Sunday with a shop cake, 2 bottles of cava and 8 of her best friends...
I was thinking of surprising a friend with some flapjacks this week. If they turn out fancy enough, I will post em....0 -
I'm baking croissants for me and OH today. Not really the same but I thought I'd share seeing as it's about the olny thing I've been able to bake sitting down!£4000 challenge

I look forward to seeing your contribution. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

What a great idea!
Mr P is going to have to be chief cake maker as I am not gifted in that department!
Will try to post pics and will try to do tomorrow night!
Thanks Mrs_P!
You are allowed to have a go if you're not gifted, but you have to eat all the failed attempts yourself. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Awwh, what a lovely idea for a thread. I did this one last night (for a friend at work who keeps fish), so I hope it can still count (I was still icing it this morning at 2.30 am!)... The icing slipped a bit because I had to bring it in on the bus this morning and it's a really heavy squishy chocolate cake - so it's a bit squint! It's four layers high and filled with thick chocolate fudge sauce and chocolate chunks between the layers. There are more fish on the other side
Happy birthday Mrbadexample, hope you have a great day!
Oh yeah....now that's the sort of thing, and it counts because you made some of it today. I'll let you off if it was for their birthday, as I was slow to post the rules.
So, #1 in the MBE birthday cake challenge goes to celyn90. :T:TIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Happy Birthday Mr BE!!
I have made some of Twink's Hobnobs for the first time today, to take to share with everyone at a play rehearsal tonight in our tea break. I was going to do this anyway, so don't know if it counts - but I think I'll make a cake for my Mum anyway at the weekend as part of the challenge.
Not good with technology, I'm afraid - any tips on posting pictures - I've got a digital camera, but can't work out how to get the pictures in a post!
