I bet you can't beat this mobile phone package!

I am on the "Orange Value Promise" (equivalent to the Virgin tariff at the time) since I joined Orange mobile about 20 years ago.

    I currently pay £3.16 a month plus 65p VAT = £3.88
    Breakdown: 50 mins of calls = £2.55
100 mins of data = 4.17 for 50 mins of that, (the other 50 mins is free)
unlimited any time texts = £4.25.
Minus discount of £8.24 as a loyal long term customer.

I actually don't need the data, but if I cancel that part of my package I will end up paying MINUS 29pence a month!

I would be interested in your reaction.

I get 3000mins, unlimited text, 4gb data only 3g £1 month Life mobile but now Plusnet.

If we're going to go down the memory lane of old contracts that just go on and on, it would be wrong to omit mention of PUFFL - pay upfront for life.

I paid £35 for a sim back at the turn of the century and have paid not a penny in rental since. There's a couple of closed threads devoted to PUFFL, and how best to exploit. O2 even offered free upgrades to quite valuable phones of the day until they twigged that they'd just get sold on ebay.

I only rarely get mine out of the box now, e.g. when visiting an area where o2 is the only workable network . There are no included cross network minutes, so of limited interest these days.

Nothing to stop you occasionally calling other mobiles via an access number, for maybe under a penny a minute

Also the past few months and for a bit longer from now O2 has had slightly cheaper roaming in Europe than some other brands, and for a larger list of countries e.g. incl Switzerland, which EE doesn't.

Blimey- OVP haven't heard that in a few years! My first full time job was working in connections for Orange in 2000 and I connected a lot of those.

I still have my Orange OVP Virgin SIM.
OVP Virgin is £0 a month, because I only keep it as an emergency.
I had it as my 'Line 1' plan, with Everyday 50 on 'Line 2' (remember when Orange were cutting edge?).
It used to be something special, but then 3G internet came along and Orange would only connect OVP lines to 2G.

Also have FreedomPOP. £0 a month with 200 minutes, 200 texts and 200MB each month.

Main EE contract is £1.50 a month with unlimited minutes, texts and (ahem) 16GB data.

Please note, I can certify there are no typo's in the amounts stated above.
