That’s simply for data protection purposes.
I was going to say ignore them until they write to you about a specific debt, all you will get back is a letter asking you to call to confirm your details.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. The less they know, the better - and don't contact them again.
If its a phishing expedition they'll see who corresponds, but if they believe they have the right person (and if it is on credit report, probably is) then ignoring won't help. Letters will continue and at some point there will be a claims and then a CCJ.
Advice has been given for a proper prove it letter. Getting things stopped once its that far is harder.
Your DOB is their data protection check, as that's not on the letters they send out.0 -
You forgot to say don't give it to them Pike :rotfl:

The OP's under no obligation to give their DOB out - but your giveaway is 'if it's on credit report, probably is' - that's no guarantee at all.
Besides, the OP has also said Lowlives haven't stated what this is all even about.
As fatbelly said, until they do there's not much point in even giving them the time of day.0 -
True, if they give nothing specific then it could be a fishing expedition, seeing if someone would bite. I was meaning that will probably require DOB whatever stage, and if it gets as far as letter before action then continue to refuse to give dob won't stop any ccj0

This is how Lowell came after me, right before jumping upto a different style of letter as a "pre-legal" assessment, its at this point I challenged them and they wrote of the debt.0
