What small DFW things will you do this week? w/c 13/02

  • Morning!

    A new list for today, including the forgotten bits from yesterday...

    - Do a laundry and get it out on the line rather than clogging up the radiators and needing the dehumidifier to be on. NB: laundry needs to be brought in again before it gets damp overnight for this to count!
    - Make bread (I make my own sourdough). Should be able to get two big/four small loaves out of the amount of starter I have currently.
    - Bake banana loaf to use up manky loaves
    - Have a scan of the fridge for any other perishables that aren't going to last and try to make something to use them up
    - Go through next week's shop (already input into MySupermarket) and try to jiggle the menu plan to knock a tenner off it. We have lots of food in the house, so i'd like it to come in at £50 from Aldi/Lidl, it's currently almost £60.
    - eBay listings
    - social media for work - try to schedule a couple of posts for next week as well, so if I am busy at least something will go up.
    - Wear more clothes, rather than give into the urge to keep the heating on all day (I often turn it back on when I'm working - need to aim for more clothes before more heating!)
    Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
    Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

    Sorry what does FD stand for?

    In case Bob doesn't see this, FD stands for First Direct bank. I have an account with them too :)
  • Have just been through the cupboards to check for perishables, and in the baking cupboard I found a load of mixed peel, crystallised ginger, THREE tins of black treacle, a couple of bags of hazelnuts and pecans and a jar of coconut flour. Am now off to google for things to bake and freeze that might use up any of these things! DH takes packed lunch every day, I am at home with child 3 and the other two children take snacks to school, so ready made snacks are always in hot demand.

    Morning gang :wave:

    Hi to the new posters! :beer:

    We had a lovely night with our free theatre tickets. :T Spend about £45 between us in the end with snack beforehand as no time for dinner (£5), 4 drinks each (£32!! oooh the extravagance! :p) and travel (£9). Glad we didn't have £25 tickets on top. :D We ended up with an extra drink because there were 2 intervals - bit odd I thought...

    We've got pals coming over tonight so it's operation tidy the house! :p OH is cooking something in the slow cooker and we'll get cheese and crackers for afters (who needs an oven?!)

    We're off to @ldi in a bit. Not much going on really - want to go to the skip but don't know if we'll have time/will be bothered.

    Catch up soon!

    Morning :) yesterday when we got back from our meal I was shattered as I woke up at 2 and stayed awake until 4am and then was up with madam at 6.30. I went and had a nap at 6 and slept through until 6 this morning :eek: must have needed it!

    Today madam has a party and then we are meeting up with dd afterwards - although she hasn't confirmed which is unusual....

    So far have:

    * put a load of washing on
    * tidied up the kitchen
    * froze lo butter milk in ice tray
    * got salmon out of freezer for tea & ys whole chicken for tomorrow
    * wrote meal plan for week ahead & a tichy list (trying to run down stores, the never ending story!), relooked at the list and decided everything except milk, bread and eggs can be crossed off again :money:

    Still to do:

    * [STRIKE]hang up washing[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]housework[/STRIKE]
    * plant some seeds :D
    *[STRIKE] pick up said milk and bread - buy extra milk and freeze as I have a 50p off of a £4 spend MOC from coop ;) as I'm passing I will get the bread in Mr T so I can use the app to pay and get a bonus 50 points and will get wombled receipts points added :money: [/STRIKE]
    * make hm pizza and dough balls. will double up and freeze some for later in the week
    * freeze some yogurt
    * update spending diary

    Might make a return to my masters prep when madam goes to sleep. Haven't done any all week due to being ill. Have lost a little motivation so need to get back on it!

    Also need to plan out priorities for the week :D

    Happy weekend guys x

    Morning all,

    Hope everyone who is a little under the weather or sleep deprived manages to rest a little!

    Yesterday the hospital appointment over ran quite a lot so didn't get much done but got practically the all clear so once consultant signs that off I should be fine for quite some time - may have to be monitored but its looking like it is definitely nothing sinister so all good!

    As a treat in celebration I bought myself a little snack of sushi in W@itrose and got the free coffee with my card - felt like a real treat too!

    I then picked up tickets and deposited cheque in my bank before rushing off on the school run.

    Today:
    *Pet related cleaning - overdue from yesterday
    *Washing mountain - sunny so may put outside as I love the smell of washing when it comes in
    *General tidy up
    *Figure out if there is a way to enter debt into the YNAB system that won't freak me out i.e. show me as always in the red! I am not motivated by negativity.
    *Deep clean of the house in prep for half term
    *Check with hairdressers if there is a stand by appointment available as get a discount but still go where I feel pampered :)

    Out tonight with some friends for a couple of beers - all budgeted for and will take cash only so I am not tempted to go dancing until 3am all the while slamming shots on my debit card...have a naughty streak in me sometimes that wants to party like its 1998! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Have a great day all, I hope you are getting some of this glorious sunshine!
    Happiness is wanting what you have...

    Hi February Folks,

    Quick check in.

    Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Taking packed lunch to work.

    * Despite acing my job interview I didn't get the promotion. Long story. Won't bore you. Move on.

    * Going to start a free mental health blog for myself. It's not money-saving, as such, but it may save my sanity.

  • Morning all :coffee: :wave: and welcome to all the new posters - lovely to see you here.
    I made it to half term :j After such a busy week it feels surreal to be here. I didn't sleep well last night but I don't need to worry too much about that.
    Today's plans are fairly minimal:
    It won't be a nsd because I need to do a small top up shop. It will have to be small because I'm skint.
    Meal plan and prep for the week ahead
    Check banking and try to find a small PAD from somewhere
    Minimal housework
    Tutoring later on
    Lots of tv and crochet time
    Try not to stress (ds already making this quite difficult)
    I might bake some scones. Surely I can't be so bad at baking that I couldn't even manage this???
    Angelpye - pleased to hear that it was good news at the hospital.

    I keep mine 'off budget' for that very reason. I just have a category group for debts and then list the amount with that...so the category is 'Credit Card £3000' and then make a payment to that just like any other bill. I then update the name every once in a while when it comes down. I don't use credit cards like the true YNAB way because I don't use them for general spending. HTH :)
  • ally may I direct your attention to the quote on your sig??? I honestly believe every job I didn't get was a blessing in disguise! Even now after the horrendous-ness of being sacked from my last job turned out to be the right thing for me. If I hadn't have been sacked and then getting told my mum had died 20 minutes later I wouldn't of had a year off and the time to re-evaluate my life, I probably would have slogged on in a job that caused me a lot of anxiety or got another similar job. But instead I took time out, took on a job at a lower level of responsibility and which is allowing me to fulfil my ambition of returning to academia. Things work out for the best, trust in life x
