  • I am so freaking busy at the moment. I can feel my resolve slipping when I am busy like this and can now recognise it as a weak spot - I just want to make life easier by buying more clothes so I have more options in the morning if I'm not on top of the laundry, buying easier food so I don't have to cook, buying nice things for the kids to make up for not seeing them etc etc. Am thus far staying strong, but it's not a huge amount of fun.

Annoyingly, most of the work I'm doing now was booked and paid for pre-LBM, and some last month, so I've already had the benefit from it, which makes it doubly tiresome. I was at quite a fashiony event today and I really felt the temptation pulling at me to update my wardrobe! I do have about £100 in my personal kitty, but I'm almost scared to spend it in case I see something I love more as soon as it's spent.

Today was a NSD in my personal life, but had to make a business purchase (which I will be reimbursed for in full by a client at some stage soon), so it doesn't feel like a NSD.

    To do today:
    1. start bread rising before I go to a work event today. Didn't have enough sourdough starter to do this, so fed the starter and will make bread tomorrow.
    2. Make flapjacks this morning before leaving for work event. Done!
    3. Pack snacks and water for work event in case of lack of food. Done!
    4. Take plenty of pics for social media of work event. Done! Must post them shortly.
    5. NSD. Sort of done.
    6. Work on smaller business this evening. Not done, am knackered. Have a free afternoon tomorrow though, will commit a little time to it.
    7. Plan out weekend working for maximum efficiency (DH taking the children to visit a friend for the weekend). Not done yet, but will sit down with a cup of tea in a minute and do this.

    To do this week:
    1. Look into changing bank accounts and decide whether we want the hassle (I rather like having all our accounts available under one login, not sure I want to open up three new accounts).
    2. Make the statement payment to the barclaycard (it will come out by DD if I don't pay it manually, but I like to get everything lined up as early as possible so it makes my YNAB look prettier). Done!
    3. List old unloved handbag on eb@y.
    4. Order birthday presents for child 2 and child 3.
    5. Plan birthday parties so anything needed can be ordered in.
    6. Declutter one room - I feel like the clutter in the house is bothering me again, it's been building up over the past few weeks.Done! Going to attempt to get the kids' room done too by the end of the week.
    7. Take lots of photos for social media at an event I'm going to on Thursday. Done!

Yes, that's still an absolutely huge number, but at least it's below the magic £66,000 number. Onwards and downwards.

  • Have just worked out that's 1.64% payed off. I think the next challenge is going to have to be to get to 2%! It's only another £240-ish.

Yay! Dropping into another 000 bracket is fab! Well done!

I also struggle when life is busy and try to buy convenience but ultimately it's just a short term fix so stay strong and show yourself a new way to cope with busyness...them tell me how to do it! Haha

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
It's so weird reading some of the things you write because I think them myself. The pre payment thing for one! Never nice to feel you won't get anything on the day. But of course you can't have it both ways ;)

I'm smiling at the intrigue comments. And the nice ones about wishing the best for strangers.

    That's great!
  • You were over 67K just moments ago and now you're in the 65K! Well done!

I hear you on wanting to spend money to make life easier when the business is busy. Mine is quiet at the moment (deliberately! I fired a couple of low paying clients so I could free up time to find better paid ones, and I'm...in between those two stages, let's say) and my MSE activities have gone up accordingly. When things are frantic, making your own bread and pegging out washing every morning are just not things you want to spend your precious few free minutes on. Last year I was working until bedtime and past it most evenings, so I just flung money at every time saver I could, and it's been a matter of clawing those back ever since.
