    Hi everyone,

We are back, had a lovely time walking round Strathclyde Loch and then watching the fireworks at it later. It was a bit extravagent but we do love fireworks and haven't been to a display for a few years, also by staying at that hotel we now only need to stay in another Holiday Inn Express by the end of the year and we will get a large points bonus! :D
The weather was great for us yesterday but not that great today.
Must get a few comps done now.

  • Good afternoon All,

Apologies if this is not the correct place to post but I have been a member of this site for donkeys years and I remember there always being a few almost guaranteed to win comps doing the rounds...

Off the top of my head I remember one about iPod shuffles- you only ever needed to enter for a day or two before you won one. There were concerns that it was a scam as they requested a copy of your passport but I emailed copy with everything except my name and email blanked out but still recieved the iPod...

Another was tick!!!!!!!! - I won several times on that site. £250 Homebase vouchers and £100 Love to Shop vouchers.

Another was the Asda advent competition which was like a pass the parcel (refer friends email addresses) I won several times with this one.

These are all going back quite a few years now and I must admit I have had several years away from comping in general but I am quite interested to know if these types of competitions still crop up occasionally?

In fairness, I am probably going back about a decade and even the freebies were a lot more bountiful back then. I do so hope there are some decent chance comps about!

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi LuckyMerrell

Apologies for not getting back sooner but have been scouring the
site (and my not so good memory) to see what I could find. :p

I can vaguely remember the iPod shuffle comp purely due to
the 'request for a copy of the passport' issues but blowed if I can
    find that now.

I can definitely recall the facebook one similar to pass
the parcel - think I had a go at that one myself or one
    similar. :D

The following is an excellent link to use ....

and here's the Freebies (no spend required) Board link:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=37

Sorry that I can't be of more help - you may find if you post
your query directly on 'The Compers Chat Corner Board' you'll
be inundated with replies - they're a lovely bunch on there and
    always willing to help. :)

Sending you best wishes and lots of luck - hope the comping
fairy visits you soon - think she's most definitely lost my
    address! :D :rotfl:

    Take care,

Very dull here so far this morning and chilly.

    LuckyMerrell good luck with comping.

Ho Alfie hope the comping fairy does visit you soon. Yesterday when you posted late I suddenly thought Alfie's had a win. Good luck.

Here I'm still playing catchup from three weeks of half term. Only just changed the beds from the Scottish visit. Need to put thicker duvets on beds. We are having a new boiler in a couple of weeks so have to do some things in preparation. Also DD1 has decided they would like to come for Christmas so need to start to prepare. Last year I filled freezer and then they didn't make it. It can be unpredictable with two small children what with colds etc.

Alfie you'll have a new little one for Christmas. Hope they are doing well and you see some pics or Skype or Facetime.

We also have a resident mouse to deal with. Piano tuner found droppings in piano a while ago. I've actually seen it run across room when I've been watching TV one evening. DS does not like mice at all. We need to find the mouse traps he bought. They are big boxes that catch the mice and then DH has to take them somewhere remote to let them go. Ho ho.

Sylvia hope you are both ok and you have just been busy.

    Pleased you enjoyed fireworks Sheils.

Take care comping friends and good luck.

Late in today! Been a nice sunny day so got my washing up to date and DH got the car washed. Had a walk down to the town to buy a few things and cooked a few things for the freezer.
Did enter a few comps but doubt the comping fairy will notice!

Leanfun , hope you get the mouse - don't fancy one running about even though I'm not scared of them. When I lived on a farm as a child I remember watching them for ages in the barns. They look so cute.

Not sure I have any teddy bears left as my DD claimed them when she was little. Do have a fluffy penguin that DH brought me back from a holiday he had with his brother in Wales just after we started going out. No idea why he brought me a penguin before you ask.

Hope everyone has had a nice day.
