Hiiiiii
So 18/10/16 I purchased the Xbox one controller using my Argos card. It's been paid off as of last month. Yesterday When I got home from work, I saw the left bumper button was loose and as I picked it up, it feel off. I've looked for the receipt but unsure what I've done with it.
Spoken with Microsoft, they said I need proof of purchase and I could get a copy from the store. I spoken to Argos online as well who confirmed I can do that but I can also see if I can get it replaced. I got proof on my Argos card statement but it's. it itemised. Just says I spent x amount at the store.
Walked in today. Totally dismissed me.
I explained to staff member what's happened. She took this controller to someone who took one look at it and said no. Can't replace it as it looks like I've dropped it. I told them I haven't so she said we have to send it away. Tried to looks for the transaction number but it only goes as far back as November. Typical. The two staff members were more concerned leaving work and going on the break.
So what are my rights? I can sort of understand they might not be able just to take my word from it. They said to come back tomorrow so another manager can look into the database for the purchase
I either want Argos or Microsoft to replace it or repair it.
Thanks.

However do be aware that , even if you had the receipt, accidental damage is not covered by the warranty or your legal rights as a consumer. The item would have to be damaged when you bought it or be genuinely faulty. The two staff members were more concerned leaving work and going on the break.0 -
So I'm not allowed to mention their customer service regardless?
Understand if it was accidental the fault lies with me. But I know I haven't done anything to damage it. So can we just pretend I'm yelling the truth instead of making it out I wanna scream and shout till I get it my way?0 -
I am really sorry about the poor spelling and grammar. I'm on the bus using my phone0

Don't believe them when they say the till receipts only go back to November. The staff at my local Argos tracked down a receipt on their till from over a year earlier.
Do you have an online account or is your email address in any way linked to your Argos card. They should be able to find the transaction that way.0 -

Since the purchase was made on the Argos credit card, it will appear on her statements and that will be acceptable evidence of purchase.
The main problem is that the controller has become physically broken months after purchase.0 -
Unfortunately Xbox and other games console controllers are notorious for breaking simply through regular use.
I'm surprised that there isn't a few businesses around who can repair them given that they cost roughly £40 - £50 per controller.
My DS needs a new controller every 5 - 6 months due to the parts becoming loose, or non responsive in other ways.
He had asked for the elite controller for Christmas, but I refused precisely because they are not robust and are not made for the regular use that is made of them.
I'd therefore be very surprised if you get a refund or replacement, especially as you have had the controller for over 3 months.
As an aside, when I buy goods from Argos, they now email my receipt to me. Perhaps you had the same done with your receipt?Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...
..one size fits all... and nobody minds if you give it back.☆.。.:*・° Housework is so much easier without the clutter ☆.。.:*・°SPC No. 5180 -

Saying that it looks like you have dropped it is not that proof.
If I were you I would allow them to do this.0
