Argos - Xbox Elite Controller

I told them I haven't so she said we have to send it away.
That's the correct step it appears.... so they haven't totally dismissed you from what I can see!
Are they waiting on the proof of purchase to send it away? Or did you kick off a bit over that?
Whilst not terribly good CS (if your break and home thing is correct), you're speaking to minimum wage people on a Friday afternoon/evening! Not the best time to start debating an Xbox controller which, for the most part, sounds like you've just dropped or rage-threw it against the wall
But in all seriousness, whatever path you take (Argos or Microsoft) you'll probably have to send it off for a fault report to be carried out. If the controller was INHERENTLY faulty then you'll get a resolution. If it was damaged by anything else then the broken controller will be returned to you.
If they refuse to do that, or to accept CC statement as proof of purchase, your last resort would be small claims court. But from what you've said they've given you the correct answer, it is just more about being reasonable with them and recognising what action needs to be taken by them.0 -

That will only be a problem if Argos can prove on the balance of probability that the physical damage did not arise through normal usage.0 -

The item will be sent to Microsoft for a professional appraisal.0 -

So if it is sent for a professional appraisal what is the "main problem"? The purpose of the appraisal should be to determine whether the damage was due to an inherent fault (in other words the damage arose through normal usage) or not.0 -

Of course, since neither of us are in a position to inspect the actual controller, neither of us can gauge whether it will eventually be judged inherently faulty (or not)0
