Just happened to watch the videos above. The speed is shown on the top left corner.

I'd have to say that at those speeds I wouldn't expect to lose the back end like that on a recent Volkswagen which I would expect to have ABS and stability control. I'd say the first time the driver was going a little quick - not driving to the visibility round the corner and didn't react to the black car so lost it due to sudden braking. Reminded me of old '80s Escort vans which would spin in an emergency stop.

The second one, hardly on the limit, no sense of the car complaining before the sudden loss of grip which if it is front wheel drive should not have been triggered by the acceleration. Not normal handling. My reaction is that I am looking at an unloaded van.

    Is it an unloaded Caddy?

My guess is driving a van and expecting it to handle like a car is part of the problem.

My suggestion is to switch off that mindless radio chat and concentrate on the driving.

I'd agree. A further suggestion is to stop reviving ancient posts.

I'm confused, the post you quote from reeac is dated 28-12-2017 8:41 AM ?

In that case, we’re both confused. Looks like a software problem.

It keeps showing on mine with a recent post with a new date & time, yet the post mentioned has a much earlier time & date. Is it because someone has voted in the survey? (112 voters now)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Yes it is .... OR someone posted a :spam: post and it got nuked.

Both scenarios cause a thread to be bumped.

Yes, I noticed the vote count increasing every time it bumped now since I recorded it as 112. The error is it tells you the newest post is a post from ages ago, (which is true, if the voter didn't post anything) but the date & time in the newest post alert are the date & time of the vote ( most likely bump, it is now 115.)

When a poll thread gets bumped, new votes tend to get made for some bizarre reason ... probably because people don't actually look at the date of the thread. :o

If we leave this thread alone it'll eventually "go to sleep" again. :)

I thought they locked threads that were old?

Anyway, on the topic of premium vs non, years ago i bought some tyres that came to just over £500 IIRC for all 4 corners. 16". Not the dearest but most certainly not the cheapest at all. I'd done plenty of reading up on them (various tyres) and those were the ones i selected.

After some years they came to be replaced. This time i put budgets on. All 4 came to less than £200 and that included fitting.

I don't drive particularly hard. This will be where someone quotes me from yesterday where i said i'll happily do say 35 in a 30 if the conditions allow as some sort of claim that i drive 'hard' but whatever, i don't drive hard. I don't hang on peoples bumpers, i don't throw the car in to corners.

Anyway, i've certainly noticed a difference with these tyres. The car is much more happy to skid, the grip just isn't what it was. Even moreso when the road is quite wet/cold/icy.

And although the last comment was 17th Dec, this was on page 1 obviously from someone voting on the poll so don't shoot me for bumping it, though you'll probably shoot me for something else so hey ho :)
