And all you had to do was spend nearly £80,000 on your card to obtain that many points.0

If two people each go through the two BA Amex cards and the Gold Amex for the signup bonusses it would be much less than that. In theory you could make 120k+ points with a £12k spend.0

I've taken my OH and 2 friends BA First class to the states twice. Using 2 x companion vouchers each time. Admittedly its from work travel points and using the Amex card but worth it.
4 x First tickets to San Francisco £64k or ~£4k taxes
4 x First tickets to Boston £45k or ~£4k taxes0 -
wouldn't go there if you paid me.
2 hours is my limit on a plane, so
Spain, Menorca and other med Islands0 -

Great example of a pointless post. So if you weren't using your work travel points you wouldn't have gone anywhere.wouldn't go there if you paid me.

Who cares?
Why do people post such pointless posts?I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I tried to use the companion promo to book two seats. Was told that I had to pay with Avios points (which i just about did by buying some with tesco vouchers) and could only choose economy class. Would have gone business class if I was allowed.0

That poster has form for driveling random and irrelevant stuff on many other threads, I think 2 hours flying time approximates to the distance by which he/she usually misses the point of the thread....Candyapple wrote: »0 -

Yes, with a lot of these upgrade deals you have to pay the amount completely in Avios. I guess it is to stop you from flying all the way to Australia or Argentina with them with a minimum spend!0 -

It's less pointless than hanging around forums critiquing replies - yours is a meta pointless post.
I have introduced several colleagues to using the right credit cards for business expenses to maximise the returns.. thus saving themselves some money on holidays... this is really the point of MSE - being savvy in your money management and using the levers of your situation for maximum benefit.
JFYI I put every penny of personal spending that is possible on the BA Amex to earn points so it isn't purely work travel points.0 -

Sounds like there were no reward flights available for the flight you wanted. As the article suggests, booking as soon as the flights become available is key.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
