I'm flying business class to New York for half the price of an economy ticket...

Claims such as 'I travelled business class for half the price of an economy ticket' are in themselves meaningless. There are so many different fare types in each class of service. Anybody paying a full fare economy ticket is probably paying more than someone travelling on a discounted business class ticket.0

Well yes, but I think most people would be comparing the cost of an Avios redemption with the cost of the cheapest non refundable ticket. The taxes and fees on a J redemption are typically about the same price as a Y ticket.
But of course a huge advantage of an Avios redemption is that you can cancel it for a £35 fee and get your Avios back, so its more flexible than a restricted J ticket.0 -

The article also miss out theLuke's article lacks detail and is slightly misleading
To get the most out of Avios, you need to look at the bonus offers and exploit them mercilessly. The best site to find out about those is http://www.headforpoints.com/
.
Amex Platinum charge card
£450 fee but 35000 MR points you can credit to lots of airlines.
Fee is refunded pro rata so if you are a quick spender and go through Quidco you can actually make money
Virgin Atlantic Companion voucher
Totally worthless:eek:So you could end up paying £1689 (£1161 + £195 + £333) for those two Business Class tickets.
And these days with ExEU fares (and hidden city ticketing) and Qatar sales its getting easier to fly business for around this price without having to spend time and effort getting AVIOS for rewards that are rare to find.0 -

The ex-EU fares and sales also allow you to fly with a much better airline than BA, whose Club World product is pretty poor!0 -
@ Mr...

As someone quite heavily into the whole points collecting thing, I think the title deserves to be treated with some skepticism because the taxes alone on redemption fares, Economy and upwards can be more expensive than the cheapest Economy fare (including taxes).
As for spending £80k to get those points, not necessarily - sign up bonuses and referring friends take a lot of work out of accruing those points.@ Mr...

The page background is white. By adding characters/words and changing their colour to white, you can make posts which appear to be only one word long.0 -
