  • I fed the puppy at 6am and played with her. My car was collected by the garage for its service this morning at 8am then I went back to bed until 9.30 as the puppy was snoozing. Then one puppy walk done and had bacon & eggs when I got back :D

Still waiting for my Which? magazine refund. I phoned them today and they confirmed its on its way but can take up to 14 days ! I know its only £5.60 but every little helps at the moment.

I phoned virgin media yesterday and again today and have negotiated a better deal. I was paying £36.49 a month plus £196 a year up-front line rental saver which works out at £52.82 per month. As the line rental saver has run out the price was going to be £55.49 a month. I don't want to add the line rental saver to my 0% credit card as the 0% would run out before it was paid in full and then I would start paying interest which would cancel any saving. I am now paying £47.50 a month including line rental so nothing to pay upfront, saving £7.99 a month from £55.49 :T Better than nothing ! The increase will be covered by the April tax code increase everyone gets which increases my take home salary by around £10 a month.

Just need to sort out my house insurance & fingers crossed the car doesn't need any work on it today !

  • Car has been serviced with a new windscreen wiper and steering rack clip total £49.37 paid on my 0% credit card. I will cut back on the food budget next month to pay for it. I need to save now as there are several advisories re tires etc for next time :(

I am using up some mince beef, onion and frozen peppers for dinner using up the leftover tin of tomatoes from breakfast and some chilli powder.

Tomorrow is one of the girls 50th. I am going to meet them in our local pub for a drink before they go on to town. I need to get a card for her tomorrow. I have £16.52 in my purse so should be enough for a card and a drink.

My other friend did not come round today but to be fair it has been raining most of the afternoon and I have been so tired I have slept most of the day between 2 puppy walks.

Glad you rested. I'm also pleased that you used the credit card. You will pay it back and wont have interest to stress over.

I do hope you are able to see your friend tomorrow as you need cheering up and deserve a treat for a tough few months. I don't think the grotty weather is helping so seeing friends and having fun is a good way to cope.

Soon the weather will be nicer and you will get a lift from that. In the meantime, do hug dearest puppy and do nice things to treat yourself. Love and hugs, swx

I went to homebase for lightbulbs for the living room and the outdoor light this morning and got 2 for £4. blooming extortionate price ! However they also had halogen spotlight bulbs which I have in my kitchen on sale box of 4 for £1 usually £2.97. So I bought 8 boxes cost £8 saving £15.76. I have 2 kitchen lights with 4 bulbs each, so 8 bulbs in total and 4 needed replacing. I think the bulbs are being discontinued which is probably why they were selling them off, so at least it should be a while before I need to buy any more bulbs. :D I paid using the credit in my household bills account total £12

I got a 50th birthday card for 59p and a bottle of wine for £5 for the birthday girl and have not long since got in from the pub with £2 left in my purse for milk tomorrow . Had a really nice evening and lots of laughter and chat really nice to catch up with everyone, but didn't have the energy to go dancing in town with them. Maybe next time ;)

Glad you went out and saw friends. Well done on getting lightbulbs.

I've had the most chilled weekend ever. Been reading chick lit at home. Ive weeded and fed the garden. Now run out of feed and weed and am going to continue to read. How boring is my life.....:rotfl:?

  • Had a lazy day today apart from 2 puppy walks and a bit of ironing. Oh and hoovering the puppy room. :D

I have been looking at house insurance. I currently have buildings and contents, accidental damage, cover away from home & bike cover with no voluntary excess, which was £179 last year but renewal is £237

I have struggled to find anything cheaper but am going to go with Halifax which is offering £50 cashback so reducing the overall price to £167. The cover is the same but the excess is £100 but its the best option I can find for the price. I have a couple of questions so I will ring them tomorrow when I get back from work.

    Payday tomorrow :j

Finally payday and I have updated my soa with the new salary amount increase from new tax code just under £9 a month but better than nothing. That leaves me £18.26 of which £11.01 will cover the increase in virgin media package to include line rental, its still cheaper overall than it would have been if I had paid line rental up front !

I spoke to Halifax yesterday and paid for my house insurance which was £219 but they are paying £50 cashback after 90 days. I have paid from my annual bills account and there is only a small balance left as there was only £300 in the account. However I save £100 a month into the account and there should be no further bills until December when my car insurance is due so I should have topped the account back up by then. I will also put the £50 cashback into the bills account when it is paid.

I had my work appeal yesterday about my sick leave so will wait to hear the result in 5-10 days. Was feeling fed up yesterday so I ordered a pizza and big tub of ice cream last night :o was just under £15 but paid for from my entertainment budget for may which is only £50 so I will have to be careful for the rest of the month and spend it wisely :D

Puppy is snoring at the moment I took her for a run on the field when I got home. I got some washing out but the sun has gone in now, it should still dry if it doesn't rain.
