Mothernerd - so sorry to hear the sad news of your aunt but it was good that you had time with her in later years.
AS Seasidegal reporting in for NSD number 2 Cap’n! (And apologies for duplicating my diary entry!):
I did buy a birthday card and ordered some flowers, but these were for a client’s significant birthday and I will claim back on expenses. And got some nice loyalty points on my M&S card! – I bought the flowers via M&S and had a voucher for triple points!
Also, through negotiating down my broadband/phone with Sky at the weekend, plus the one-off deduction on my February bill they gave me, I have an extra £49.61 to wing over to the Emergency fund so have updated my signature again!
Session 2 at the gym tonight – still doesn’t fell any easier, but did up the sets to two – new set done at 12 reps at a higher weight.
Today I am grateful for:
- Free slice of pizza at lunchtime – some colleagues who have joint birthdays clubbed together and bought the whole firm pizzas from Domino’s (so will keep sandwich in fridge for tomorrow).
- Triple M&S loyalty points on flowers purchase – which actually did not cost me anything!
- More cash for the Emergency fund! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
Finished Emergency Fund- £10,000 April 2017

Quick check in for me, captain!
NSD number 2, LTW number 2.
Crisis averted number 1: Hubby nearly spent £3 of his precious money on lunch at the staff canteen coz he couldn't be bothered to pack his lunch, but determined, I quickly packed him lunch 2 minutes before we left for work this morning. Felt quite proud of that actually. We both had the last portions of the chicken chow mein that I cooked on Tuesday night.
Crisis averted number 2: Hubby was supposed to be on a half day today but they were short staffed at work so he offered to stay til 5:30 for a bit of overtime. But work overran so he had to stay til 7pm for a total of 6 hrs overtime (at a rate of time and a half). As we were car pooling today, I decided to put in a couple of extra hours of TOIL (time owing in lieu) and waited for him instead of leaving him and getting him to take public transport. By the time we both finished work we were starving and were sorely tempted to call in to a fish and chips shop or K Fried Chicks. But I am so proud of myself for holding fast and ignoring hubby's suggestions. Got home and used up the old potatoes in the larder that are about to sprout, some eggs that we bought YS for 10p for a box of 12, and a frozen YS lightly smoked mackerel. Weird combination but very tasty, probably not good for the waistline, but perfect for reducing the "wasteline". There's still one portion left for a packed lunch tomorrow.
Today I am grateful for
1. Avoiding the two icebergs that were in my path (see above)
2. £10.59 interest in our savings account that holds the emergency fund

Today I am grateful for:
1. NSD NO 1
2. My supportive family0 -
Evening. Counting a NSD as the money was from my January eating out allotment. Had budgetted £25. Came in at £18 including tip. £7 going to savings.
Gratitude:
1) Wonderful friends who I can have a laugh with. The group ranged from 28 to 70, and it was brilliant.
2) The ability to take a CBA'd day without feeling guilty. Not so long ago I couldn't have done that and would have got really stressed about going back to bed at 0800 after the gym and sleeping until 12ish.
3) My health. One of the group is having to deal with the early stages of dementia. It is humbling to hear her calmly discussing her plans for the future and showing gratitude for being as well as she can be in herself facing this.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Morning all,
Spent £1 yesterday on a carton of cream. So frustrating.
No plans today and tonight so I should be good for today.
Mothernerd - thinking of you.0 -
Good morning!
Had a day off to myself yesterday and it was bliss although hectic. After dropping the kids off I went to B&Q to get a few bits (so no SFD), like coving corners. I'm usually good with geometry and looked at countless instructions but just couldn't get them cut right. As usual my to do list was way longer than I had time for. But I got the coving up in the guest bedroom as well as the radiator cover. The kids room has two new shelving units (finally got all their book in one place) and has been reorganised to generate more floor space (it's only 2.5m x 2.9m with sloping ceilings and two toddler beds in it), stored away some toys but with easy access to them. I also painted part of a wall with blackboard paint and got a boot full of old toys (not fit for giving away), duvets etc to the dump.
So a very productive day. Could quite easily have one of them a month. I'd vote for the reintroduction of the housekeeping day, if there ever was one.
Have a nice dayDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250
