I would love to be able to get our loft sorted and boarded out correctly. XH made an attempt to board some of it but the wood he used I'm sure is not very good and bends a lot. I don't feel comfortable going up there. I see many adverts of fb that will come and install a proper ladder and board it out. Very temptingMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

We had a lovely breakfast (well brunch really) DH had a large full breakfast which included a espresso-cup of baked beans. Who knew there were so many opinions about baked beans (as well as whether they have any place in a full breakfast) there were strong opinions about whether the cup was either mean or sensible and the merits or demerits of a wet plate with beans spreading into other bits. It was the only moment when the whole table (9) got involved in the same discussion. What was supposed to be a beekeepers breakfast was in danger of turning into a bean-eaters breakfast! The breakfasts there are excellent and I have the same thing - two perfectly poached eggs on sourdough toast with smashed avocado, sliced, grilled halloumi, salad garnish and chilli jam. DH's breakfast was two quality pork sausages, two excellent rashers of bacon, two poached eggs, two slices of sourdough toast, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, two large mushrooms and some black pudding. Ginormous but he eat it all plus some of my halloumi.
The loft awaits but I am still lolling at my desk in my nightie. We have spread out a huge dust sheet over the bed in the double spare room and everything coming down is going on that and around it for the timebeing. A bit of a nightmare but it will make us sort it out. The crates I have bought recently have lids and are smaller (implying lighter, and easier to manoeuvre.
The bar in the social club in the Village Hall is due to open today so we will show willing and pop over (not for the whole three hours though). Other than that, walk dog, hot shower and relax and read my book. Ooh, and finish my seed audit!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Anyone popping in to read the last three posts is going to think !!!!!!?!
Anyway, a quick check of the bank accounts this morning and an unexpected difference in the running costs file. A quick chat with DH (just down and getting his breakfast, perfect time to ask) and there are three things - the cafe brunch I knew about, plus a lottery funds input (from us to them, rarely anything the other way) and a subscription to Adobe he pays to be editor £19.97 a month (more than the TV, just saying).
I shall spend more when I go shopping later this morning.
The carpenter is here, getting ready to start in our bedroom. We have just covered lots of it with plastic dust sheets and I will have to deal with the aftermath later. DH is going into London to join the Scotland group planning meeting. I need to have got the shopping sorted before I take him to the Station (as I will have the dog with me) and will be on point to clear up the mess afterwards. There will be mess as there is a lot of debris up there.

So sorry (and it makes me angry too) about your friend's daughter ... why on earth do some people have no respect for a shared life, family values and the good of the kids! . At least with her being young she will find a way out of this and live a far better life but hopefully having a good solicitor will help...
Adobe is expensive ,.. I have a student card and you get some big discounts that way - you dont have to be full time - just do a part time proper course and have a .ac.uk email to verify ...
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
