Thank you for the well-wishes everyone, they (you) are a brilliant help.
No call within the three days suggested on Sunday, although with the junior doctors' strike yesterday, we were not surprised. Apart from forgetting to take his aspirin until I nudged him to take his multivitamin, DH is the same as always, and I am encouraging him to do the things he normally does. I doubt that anything will show on a scan now, as any TIA evidence will have dispersed, unless it is a form of dementia brain deterioration or a tumour, so not sure now if the clinic will schedule one. We are a bit in limbo.
So in the meantime I drove to the Foodbank, only to find it closed. The 72 toilet rolls might stay in my boot for a bit now, as it is ten miles each way and involves driving past a huge Sainsbury's. It was bad enough yesterday; lord knows what it will be like the rest of the week as the shopping frenzy increases.
Speaking of which, I pottered off to Morries for my C&C at 12.00 yesterday. It took double the normal journey time, due to the volume of cars. What CoL crisis?. Anyway, I digress (as I do). 3 things missing; dishwasher tabs that were on offer (I can manage without these), Somerset Brie (and the French Brie alternative is minute so adding that to the Butcher's list for tomorrow) and ice cream. So I went in to see what else was there. I had at least, uploaded £30 of my vouchers for in-store, but I foolishly took a list with me too. A few premium things including two packs of mild smoked salmon with one going in the freezer, and some chocolate, and there I was paying £65.20, most of which was treats! On the upside, just the butcher to go tomorrow, and that is at 07.00, so hopefully a quick in and out trip.
I did end up with everything in the one fridge, but the meat and deli will need to be swapped in tomorrow, with veg going into a bag outside or in the beer fridge in the toolshed! I bought three bags of sprouts, and will use one for Christmas Day, but will blanch and freeze one and make coleslaw with the third.
DH gave the lounge a thorough clean and brought the tree in while I took the dog with me to the food bank, and on my return I made four dozen mince pies. Residing on planet zog, I used frozen puff pastry to top them, so could not do as I planned and freeze them ready to cook. So I cooked them all and the tin is completely full. I make the Delia mincemeat recipe and I used 1.5 whole jars. Mince pies anyone? There is carol singing combined with the bar in the Social Club in the Village Hall tomorrow from 6pm. I might just take them over and make more for us. The one each we tried (quality control, you understand) confirmed these are much nicer than shop-bought and my shortcrust pastry competes well, flaky and without any sugar. I should have stuck with that instead of using the all-butter puff that has been in the freezer all year. Oh well, done now. My plan is to make fudge today, decorate the house/tree, and marzipan my Christmas cake.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
