Follow up appointment yesterday with the eye clinic at hospital confirmed several things:
1. The retina is reattaching well
2. The black line he can see is the gas bubble that will disappear over the next 4-6 weeks
3. He mustn't drive in that period (maybe longer)
4. He no longer needs to sleep sitting up (yay, we got the other half of our bed back from the five extra pillows!)
5. Overall they were very pleased (err, so are we)!
6. He must not wear a patch as it creates a microclimate for bacterial infection
7. No swimming yet
8. His sight won't improve while the gas bubble is still doing its thing
9. They will make an appointment for 4-6 months time
10. That eye will grow a cataract as a result of this procedure and he will need that removed in 12-18 months
11. The nurse told him he has an "unripe" cataract in the other eye!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Thank you for posting this! There's a lot of issues there that are really useful for all of us to know about who're ageing and what have you. A microclimate for bacterial infection in particular, good grief ....
Hope you're okay, Suffolk Lass, and not exhausted with all this.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Thanks for the update @Suffolk_lass glad to hear things are progressing well, that must be such a weight off both your shoulders.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

@Karmacat I know you like this sort of thing for filing away. The post cataract laser holes resulting in greater bright light sensitivity is the one that got me (that and the shimmering gravel - whenever I walk over gravel, my brain blurs it so it shimmers because it isn't sure what to put in the gaps, at least not fast enough for me walking. Standing on gravel, no problem!
Computer is back but so far I can't pay the man as my bank won't let me! Keeps coming up with an error code (well, two now!) and I have to phone them. Mr Google does not help with the codes. I've just asked him if he has a Paypal account instead...
And, I am getting four new tyres at 11.00 and I may have to stroll along to the SM or two while they are doing it. An expensive weekend!
More soon. And apologies, I am just not able to read all the diaries I usually read as not enough time. Sorry...

What a drama with your partner's eye emergency, @Suffolk_lass. Full praise to the optician & NHS. Thanks for sharing, as I think I'd now recognise this condition & know what to do.
Your bee stall sounds lovely. Just the sort of things I like to look at & buy. There is sometimes a local bee-keeper stall on our monthly town artisan food & craft market. I sometimes buy borage honey from them, which is my favourite.....first discovered at Snape in Suffolk over two decades ago! I also like the traditional beeswax polish as it makes my kitchen dresser smell nice.
