@Suffolk_lass hope you're having z quiet relaxing time to get over all this? Time: whenever you like Place: your sofa Activity: your favourite things. A lie in may also be indicated. Love Humdinger xx2

my goodness what a whirlwind. Very impressive treatment and timescales though. Do hope you get a rest to recover, love Watty.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Thanks everyone, your best wishes are really helpful to my sense of calm and well-being. I feel really supported. I mean it.
No sofa relaxation for me unfortunately as I need to take up the slack on (unpleasant) things that DH quietly gets on with.- I hate dealing with the cat's litter tray but he just can't - it needs scooping several times a day and replacing more frequently than usual or else she experiences the recurrent stress-related cystitis. We have two in place for her at the moment to deter her from using the old leather sofa (covered in towels) which is where the cystitis makes her go. I also bought a second month's supply of the Feliway Cystease capsules and we have two plug in calming pheramone diffusers now. Slow progress!
- I also have the bins, so many, and dustbins out, then in, for here and the Village Hall!
- vacuuming (yet to be undertaken because he can't remove the dog, who goes mad and wee's on the carpet)
- carrying stuff on my own, you just don't realise!
- Oh and dog walking, comfort breaks and just about all other housework type things.
- I have begun loading the dishwasher now too as he can't bend over without the pressure in his eye being too much. I always could, but he would rearrange it (before running it on overnight electricity rate) so I stopped wasting my time!!
I also jarred up the rest of the Spring honey and had a go at making a soft-set "creamed" honey using a "seed" jar at the texture I like. This is ready for the table sale I have on Saturday. I have made some honey fudge (which is in the fridge but needs bagging) and this morning, I have made some honey shortbread. I might have that on a plate for people to try, rather than making bags to sell, as I just don't have the time. I could write out the recipe if anyone wants to try it. With my lip balm, furniture polish, and my beekeeping mate's honey, pollen and beeswax blocks I think I will have plenty of interest, along with the honey tasting!
I really know how @themadvix was feeling about her laptop! My iMac has gone away to be repaired, recovered or recycled (hopefully not the latter) and I cannot print anything and foolishly, some of my files were not recently backed up. Oh dear! Thank you for the reminder. I'm not sure how long it is since I backed up my files but suspect it may be over a year. That's the next hour (or more) sorted then.

Good to hear from you, Suffolk Lass. You've really had to take on a lot extra with your OH not being able to bend - I can totally imagine what that does to pressure in the eye
And so much you have to do for the animals. Heavens.
Honey shortbread sounds to die for, actually, so yes please, *when* you have time, a recipe would be great.
Backing up - ahem, I have backups to my backup, colour me embarrassed - losing my writing, or my genealogy files, would kill me (I exaggerate, natch). Maybe the computer firm could recover some files? Several family members are getting together to do a mass "secure deletion" and that was part of the service offered for a frozen laptop.2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
Oooh SL, sorry to hear about your DH's eye, but it sounds like the NHS were super on top of it - wonderful! You sound really, really busy though - I hope you get some time to rest. Your stall at the tabletop sale sounds fantastic - you are really quite the accomplished beekeeper now!
I feel your pain with the laptop and the lack of backups.... I think everything on mine was backed up, but because there was so much to-ing and fro-ing, I'm still having to hunt down some files. I hope they manage to fix it without having to wipe it.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Look after you, him & the furries first, vacuuming & most housework etc can wait a little while longer.
Maybe do a few bags of shortbread and the rest as tasters to entice. I might have to buy some furniture polish & bits from you at some point x- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

First things first! Eye test at 09.30 (same optician) and I was able to feedback how grateful we were. I have also done them an online review (5*) - having spoken to the optician it emerges that he insisted the hospital treat it with the utmost urgency, because he was concerned it was going to fully detach. I really feel as though they went above and beyond.
It is so important that people react to changes in their sight immediately!!
My eyes are in good health and no change in prescription but it was time to order new prescription sunglasses and I have gone for RayBans with Bausch and Lomb lenses (£100 off) still expensive but because of the laser treatment after my double cataract surgery, I need proper light exclusion on a big lens in a metal frame with nose clips. So as my ordinary glasses remain in good order, I have been a little extravagant. I have been 16 months without any after my bike accident and I have had several pain-free migraines.
Thing 2 is my computer. I am blessed. A new logic board would have been £275, a new display unit, £300 but mine was only a failed ram chip (slightly annoying that it is the generation of machine where they glued the screen on so I could not do anything myself.) That aside, he is going to double the ram to 16gb and put in a new 500gb SSD and clone my data across and bring it back. All for £350. Bargain!!
Thing 3, I have ordered 4 new tyres for under £600 to deal with the advisories from my MOT. Three of the four tyres is perishing and two have slow punctures. The joys of beekeeping in fields with blackthorn and hawthorn. Not impressed with the Pirellis. Four years with lots of sitting around, they have perished way before the tread was getting critical.
Shortbread not very nice. Too chewy and too sweet. I will try another batch but modify my other recipe and substitute honey for some sugar (needs some sugar to cream with the butter or it will be slimy. I think there was too much honey. Anyway, not sharing that recipe! Pressing a sheet of plastic foundation on it before cutting out nearly worked! I will dust it with flour next time, but it left a nice pattern.
I might have a go at board conditioning butter tomorrow as my mineral oil (food grade) arrived and I also have some hemp oil to do one for dark wood.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
